Reference to suicide:
Three years ago today, the Charlotte community lost Blake Brockington. He was a UNC Charlotte student, a black trans activist, and his tragic death should never be forgotten and his message should not be lost.
Josh Burford, who was assistant director for sexual and gender diversity at the time of Brockington’s death, said “what happened to Blake is part of a systematic problem, especially for trans students of color. He didn’t quit. He didn’t give up... he’s a victim of what happens every single day to these kids.”
Please attend the vigil at 8pm in the Star quad as we continue his message and commemorate his memory. Rest In Peace, Blake. -
