Long post ahead; but a good one.
One last note on Prague. This is a picture of a Stolpersteine, which translates to "stumbling stone" in English. Each of these stones, which can be found all throughout Europe, indicates a place where a Jew was ripped from their home and sent to a concentration camp. These stones hold the name, the date of birth, the last time the person was seen alive, and the concentration camp they were sent to. The stones are set in bronze, a metal which shines brighter the more contact is made with it, so that they never fade with time. This is especially important in Prague, where 97% of all Jews who lived in the city during the holocaust were exterminated. Yet, when looking around Prague many of the famous Jewish monuments were left intact. Some historians have determined that this was because part of Hitler's plan was to preserve Prague as a museum for an extinct race. We must never forget.
