Junk shops and date days.
I keep seeing people talking about how important date nights are, but the reality is that in our small town, far from family, a baby sitter isn't an option and so I just wrote it off as a nice idea but not really possible.
But then I started thinking about it and realized that firstly, we have an amazing nanny during the day, and secondly, the things Cam and I have fun doing are not at night anyway. So we have had two days of leaving the kids at home and hitting up junk shops, doing errands together, and having nice coffee or lunch. It's been such fun. Hopefully next year we will get out and do some climbing together or climb some mountains like we used to.
Do I feel bad for leaving the kids at home? Yes, because #momguilt
, but seriously, the kids are happier at home than being dragged around shops, and more importantly, building a stronger marriage is 100% beneficial to them too.
