Been a while since I posted anything gym related. So today was lift heavy shit day and go as heavy as I could because it gives the mind nothing else to think about other wise that shit don’t come up. We aren’t even optimizing our workouts for hitting maxes on these days, they are for volume and speed work with some heavy reps mixed in and a “conditioning” AMRep set at the end. ✅Everyone’s sumo deads are feeling great and going up at light speed. This is only month 1, it’s gonna be a great day when we actually go to hit maxes at the end of this 3 month cycle! ✅We are currently doing these for an advanced, hybrid volume+speed+heavy+conditioning method that we are testing out with a variety of lifts once a week as part of our all encompassing SPD (Strength, Power, Durability) strength training program. It seems they hardly ever take in to account how glutes even developed when they decided how to train. . Humans have developed prosthetic limbs for amputees that allow them to run fairly easily. Squatting is not nearly as fundamentally wired in to our structures so these patterns are much harder to create without the amputee having an in tact knee and ankle joint. This is because the femur travels much differently in gait (walking/running) than it does in squat pattern. . Before anyone says anything, I am an explosive lifter. These might not look like RPE 6s, but they sure felt like it. Lol these felt somewhat good. Hard to get ready for singles that you know you can push up a set of 5 for. I always underestimate the weight when I know it’s suppose to be light. This is the GREATEST year I’ve had EVER. - So much has changed in my life this year and I’m so grateful for everything that has happened. Keep digging, keep believing, and continue to discover the absolute Best version of yourself. - If I think about the last 12 months, there have been many great things that have occurred. I started a new job that I love. I’ve made a better commitment to my health and fitness. The fam joined a new church and we’ve begun to rediscover our faith. I’ve met and made SO many great new friends. So yeah, things are pretty amazing 😊And even so, I’m still confident that everything will continue to look up. For all of us, team! The years ahead surely have great and exciting plans for each of us. We’re all gonna love the future-version of ourselves 🤙.

Here’s a little HIIT workout i did after Legs, could barley move them.. but wanted to finish strong 🤘🏻💪🏻 • Pre gym BG was 167 but dropped as soon as started my leg press 🤷🏻‍♀️ popped two glucose tablets and waited a bit then went on with my workout 💪🏻 Ate my @questnutrition bar before the gym and hit the spot 😋 can never wrong with those bars 💙 Post workout meal was ground turkey, black beans, Brussels sprouts and avocado.. was still hungry after that so had some strawberries with blue berries 🍓hit the sweet tooth i was having P-36g C-75g F-13 BG was 267 after the workout.. but only corrected with one unit.. but took 8 units of insulin 💉
Even though I am a fan of the leaderboard, I will be honest, the core of all this is you versus you, to be a stronger, fitter you than the day before. Another DL PR, I pulled 3 reps at 175# today. About a month or so ago, I was happy to pull 75 pounds from plates or from the ground. Work hard, and keep going. Deadlifts, like squats, is a compound movement. This means you're using multiple muscles at one time. But when it comes to targeting the glutes, I'll choose deadlifts over squats any day! * My preference is a sump stance, which means feet wider than hip width apart, toes slightly pointing outward. Be sure your knees are driving in the same directions as your toes. * Always hinge at the hips to initiate the movement, NEVER the knees. Bending the knees first will put all your weight on your knees which can absolutely cause damage. We want to work our muscles, not joints! * Keep your back straight the entire time, with your head down to align the spine. Squeeze those glutes while at the bottom, then come up using your glutes, pressing through your heels, squeezing the entire time. Once at the top, SQUEEEEEEZE for a hold. Keep your core in and tight. Hinge the hips back to return to starting position. Never, never let your back round.
