At 124°F (51°C for you imperial system folks), hot was an understatement #zabriskiepoint #deathvalley #deathvalleynps #california #pointingouttheobvious #melting #holiday
A good day for helicopter operations in the desert. #searchandrescue
It's amazing what's there but can't be seen.

I needed to find a little cheer today in something besides my usual hours of fresh air. Although I couldn’t find a yellow #VW van in our parking lot this afternoon, I smiled a little remembering my excitement when this 🚌 pulled in after our first stop within @deathvalleynps. - I’ve said a number of times how vans are my spirit animals “in vehicle form” to people all over the country. This one had been loved well — noted by the dents, worn storage boxes, and fraying back window curtains. Nonetheless, its sunny bottom half glowed in the California sun and it will forever be the van I saw at the lowest elevation in North America.

Zabriskie point - Death Valley. The hottest air temperature ever recorded in Death Valley was 134 °F (56.7 °C) on July 10, 1913, at Furnace Creek, which is the hottest atmospheric temperature ever recorded on EARTH 😱 . . . #deathvalley #deathvalleynationalpark #deathvalleynp #deathvalleynps #inyo #amargosa #california #california_igers #nationalpark #desert #zabriskiepoint #discoverglobe #travelphotography #travelphotographer #lonelyplanetnl #wanderlust #roadtripping #greatoutdoors #discover_earth #ourplanetdaily #findyourpark #fujifilmxt20
We are so small 🐜
I recently started looking into hiking Mt Whitney which happens to be the tallest peak in continental United States. It has been on the top of my bucket list of things to see in California because of the arduous hikes and the breathtaking views that surround the summit, both at day and at night. I also simultaneously happened to be editing my backlog of pictures from my trips over the last few months and came across this picture which was taken on the outskirts of Death Valley. The drive was absolutely breathtaking because in just a few minutes, we were transported from the lowest lying areas in the continental US to the behemoths of the Eastern Sierras. I remember reading that the highest point in the continental US (Mt Whitney) and the lowest point (Death Valley) were separated only by a 100 miles and wondered if I could catch a glimpse of the famed Mt Whitney from the road. I couldn’t really discern the peaks with my naked eye, so I forgot about it during the trip. But when I came back to this picture over the weekend, I was ecstatic to realize that we had actually seen Mt Whitney (I’m 99% sure, Whitney summiteers can confirm). Mt Whitney and the eastern sierras still deserve a dedicated visit and I can’t wait to get there! . . #easternSierras #DeathValley #nationalpark #nationalparkgeek #npcollective #nationalparkservice #nps101 #nps #nationalparkphotography #goparks #theoutbound #outdoorwomen #usinterior #deathvalleynps #california #SoCal #californialiving #unlimitedcalifornia #california_igers #californiaadventure #roads #wildcalifornia #westbysouthwest #moutains #nikon #nikonphotography #nikonUSA

8.15.2016 | #ZabriskiePoint in #DeathValleyNationalPark with @bogiemonmon. It was 122 degrees while we were there so it made us a little worried if the car would make it through the park while we did our hiking and exploring -- and fortunately, it did! If you are planning on visiting, make sure you bring lots of water too! What are some of your favorite places to explore? The many faces of Death Valley! Zabriskie Point (my favorite!), Artist’s Palette, and Mesquite Flat Sand Dunes. Mother Nature must have been toying with the idea of becoming a makeup artist when She created Artist’s Palette. #beauties
This view is on point. 👌
/ T h e W i n d o w / Visualization and execution of an image are 2 sides of the same coin. As I hiked inside Death Valleys iconic Dunes I saw a dead tree and when I looked underneath its trunk and out to dunes this image presented itself. It's funny but I knew what I would see as I hunkered down by the tree. I love images framed by unusual subjects as they give the viewer a sense of another world.

Death Valley (at 120F/49c!!) captured my heart today.
my Death Valley re-do... I’ll move on to other things now 🧟‍♀️
Raise your hand if you’ve ever felt personally victimized by the sand storms in Death Valley. 🤚🏼

This place is just unreal! Don't forget to stay there after the sunset - it's worth it for sure 😉 Also great work Irix with this awesome lens 👍 Neuvěřitelný místo, na kterým určitě doporučuju zůstat i po západu slunce - vyplatí se to 😎 . . #deathvalleynps #deathvalleycalifornia #deathvalleynationalpark #deathvalley #deathvalleyjunction #zabriskiepoint #zabriskiepointdeathvalley #landscape #landscape_captures #landscapelover #manlybeacon #sunset_pics #aftersunset #pentaxk1 #pentaxian #irix15mm #irixlens #roadtripusa #usaroadtrip #america #amerika #desert #natgeolandscape
I have a special place in my heart for deserts. As I was taking these photos I kept feeling grateful. I used to get a terrible feeling of anxiety being alone. I had to face it at a young age, not by choice. But it was my choice to pack up and move when I was 26 to a place where I didn’t know anyone, to the desert! I was forced to face myself there and yes, it was hard. It hurt. It was painful. I found out I was not who I wanted to be. Eventually, I picked up a Nikon, and drove myself as far as I could, anywhere, to stay busy. But I was still with myself, still alone. I realized there’s a difference in being alone and feeling lonely. I’m 31 now and think about how that experience taught me acceptance and forgiveness. It shaped the way I love and care for myself, it inspired my passion for photography, traveling and love for sunrises and sunsets. I might still be working on this being alone thing, but I’ve become more comfortable facing my feelings about it. Maybe you know what I’m talking about, or maybe not. Funny how some of the things we’re afraid of can turn into something so much greater than we could have possibly imagined. . . . #deathvalley #deathvalleynationalpark #deathvalleynps #nationalparks #nationalpark #nationalparkgeek #southerncaliforniadesert #desertroadtrip #desertadventure #adventure #womenwhotravel #nikon #nikonphotography #photography
Käytiin viime viikolla Kuolemanlaaksossa toteamassa, että täällä on ihan pirun kuuma. Parhaimmillaan lämpötila oli 124F, eli 51C. Eilen luki uutisissa, että tällä viikolla siellä on jopa 53C 😀 Kuva otettu Yhdysvaltain matalimmassa kohdassa. #deathvalley #kalmankylä #kuolemanlaakso #badwaterbasin #prettyhot #heatwarning #roadtrip #roadtripping #deathvalley #deathvalleynationalpark #california #deathvalleynp #deathvalleynps #desert #nationalpark #roadtrip #landscapephotography #deathvalleydesert #nationalparks #usa #landscape #travel #deathvalleycalifornia #visitcalifornia #deathvalleyroad #deathvalleyjunction #nature #deathvalleydunes #deathvalleytrip #travelphotography #travelgram
