"Knowing yourself will help you far more in your journey than being known by others…" Sometimes, we can get caught up in the flurry of the popularity dynamics that bear great emphasis in modern times. Influences such as social media introduce metrics that provide an instant dashboard on a person’s popularity and we often get drawn into a social media popularity contest. The irony is, that we do not even realise the obsession as it takes its hold over us.
Popularity, however, holds little value if we have lost connection with ourselves and our own identity, in the process. Knowing ourselves allows us to stand strong and grounded without being knocked off balance by how others perceive us. The more we focus on the popularity contest, the more we disconnect from ourselves and our own purpose can become blurred as we begin chasing popularity and validation from others.
When we focus on knowing ourselves, we will nurture our growth by recognising fears and boundaries as they surface and working through them.
Today, we invite you to perform a little balance check on yourself. How much are you focused on knowing yourself versus being drawn into the popularity contest? It is perfectly normal to be thrown off balance, as long as we recognise it when it happens so that we can work on redressing it.
Wishing you a Wednesday steeped in the magic of knowing you.
