It was a tremendous year.. In March, after 6 years of waiting I proposed to my beloved @chelss_noelle
during a trip to England and Wales. In May, I left a full time job to live in a van in Tahoe. I caught my first cutthroat. I spent endless hours with my best friend @christianbiscotti
hunting for 2 foot Brown Trout. We found em'. Landed a new personal best bow, she was an old hen but quite the dancer. Got to net my dear friend @philipgodley
's personal best brown. And, embraced the sweet provision of God via a new home and Youth Pastor position.
I will say: 2018 was a also a rough year, some things fell apart. I learned again that my plans are nothing in comparison to the plans God has laid before me. Through counselling and fellowship I took a look into my deepest suffering and had to candidly confront a God whom I had felt unprotected by. It's an timeless question: How can a good God allow horrific evil? My most powerful hope is that Jesus greatest act of love and obedience was to innocently suffer and die on a cross. It seems redemption required suffering. That's not tremendously comforting. But I am grateful for a God who sees me fully on account of His willing suffering.
In 2019, I will be married. I will continue to fish. I will continue to shamelessly question & bask in whatever nuggets of understand God reveals. I will also be praying earnestly for God to show @chelss_noelle
and my next great adventure. I don't mean to be ungrateful but I am simply in awe of what God masterfully pieces together.
I pray ministry and fly fishing are somehow brilliantly woven together in that plan.
