I've been fortunate to travel to many countries and states and amazing places in my life and I must say, I'm so glad I did it while I was young! I think back to the half day plane rides, the hostels, the late nights, the crazy adventures and how exciting it was to experience a new country!
I want to continue to see the world, to feel that joy and excitement but I'll be honest, I am getting lazier as I get older. Is that normal? And on top of that, I'm a complete homebody. Please tell me I'm not alone in my desire to be at home ALL THE TIME! ;) Extra points if you're a homebody who likes to travel. (Or am I a walking contradiction?) In case there's anyone like me, here is what has helped me feed both my travel, adventure bug and my homebodiness (not a word, haha). I've been going on road trips to places close to home. Like when Trevor and I went to Page, AZ for a couple of nights to see Horseshoe Bend and these INCREDIBLE slot canyons! ♡ It was the perfect little getaway!

Some good times testing our #frijole883 today out in Barstow’s barren moonscape. Otto wadded it up in turn one, Moeller stayed on the stink, Barnacle got busy in the snake run and Westy was the king of the wash. Rouser’s handiwork held up well and all the parts our friends contributed to build passed the test, too. We’ve still got a long ways to go until we race the @norra1000 but we’re happy with progress so far. 65 degree weather, a handful of hot links and a healthy serving of @805beer might’ve added to our elation. In case you forgot, motorcycles are the funnest when you actually ride them...even dumb ones

How great is our God? Salvation Mountain was amazing! I have been in San Diego, CA since 2011 and have been to Niland, CA plenty of times, but never once have I visited this place. I am glad that we’re getting stationed somewhere outside of California because it really forced my family to explore everything California has to offer.
Be careful where you step in the desert. It's not just any old dirt...it's alive! And all kinds of organisms live on the surface of the soil. Some are visible by taking a closer look. Others are microscopic. And just one single step off the marked trails can take hundreds of years to repair. If you notice a gray, white, green or black crustlike layer over the rich red land, then there's also a very purposeful layer of algae wrapped around those grains of sand. This intricate network is actually the key to life in the desert. These biological soil crusts that carpet the desert floor protect and nourish the earth, acting like a sponge during rainstorms and soaking up water to release gradually over time. The root-like nature of these crusts keeps the soil from being carried away by the elements. Some might call this miraculous, but it's not. It's a scientific marvel.
