Tip Of The Day!
Hunger vs. Cravings
Get curious about your desire to eat- is it physical, genuine hunger or a psychological hunger? It can help to label different hungers such as boredom hunger, happiness hunger, stress hunger, sadness hunger, anger hunger (eg some people eat when they’re angry rather than communicating). If you identify your desire to eat as a craving and not genuine hunger, think about how you could deal with your cravings. Why are you having the craving? Are you tired, or perhaps your blood sugar levels are low (ie physiological), or is it emotionally-based? Is there a pattern to your cravings, ie do they happen at a certain time, in a certain place or situation? Are they triggered by a certain person or thing?
Cravings: wanting a SPECIFIC FOOD and wanting it NOW (eg chocolate)
Hunger: tends to come on more gradually and you don't feel the need for a specific food, drink or taste.
