At this time of year it can be really hard dealing with the normal stressors of day to day life with the addition of the short days leaving for work and getting home in the dark. To keep sane I have to find time on my way home or early on a weekend morning to get outside and see daylight, sunshine and nature. Christmas would not be Christmas without cake but it can become this season can become very stressful without even noticing. I try and make stuff that keeps well and doesn’t take too long to make. Here we have traditional lebkuchen drizzled messily with orange icing and dark chocolate, vegan dark chocolate tiffin with cranberries and spiced biscuits and spiced toffee cake. The lebkuchen is a three part process but because this is spread over a few weeks its not a complete chore as each stage is simple and quite therapeutic. The toffee cake keeps well for a few days (even longer uniced and the gingerbread flavours only mature and deepen with time). It’s been almost 10 years since I began this second chapter of my life. ...I have lived many lives... experienced many failures and sometimes taking calculated risks I still can’t believe I survived.
But NOW, every single day I get to wake up and create ...and with some sort of synergic luck 💫...helping others do the same.
NONE of that would have been possible if I’d been TOO SCARED to start.
I could’ve let imposter syndrome keep me from creating this little baby blog in 2009. Who the hell am I right? Who cares what I have to say? No one will read it so why bother?
There is a CHINESE curse that says... “May you be born at an interesting time.”
You can probably get the gist of it...because we are truly living in interesting times.
Figuring out how to deal with interesting times is no easy task. Assuming that it’s as much your concern as mine

Regardless of dyslexia... I was compelled to write because my soul asked me too... begged really. I wrote because I needed to for myself. To understand what happened, is happening.
It was (and still) is scary as hell, but I do it anyway.

Who else is guilty of pushing themselves until they inevitably reach a burnout stage? 🙈✨ Particularly around this time of year, we're all doing our best to tie up loose ends before we can truly enjoy Christmas, and that in itself can be really tough on us☃️✨
When you feel your regular "I'm cracking up" symptoms (mine are fatigue, muscle aches, sore throat, literally shaking, the works), this is when you literally just need to say "feck this", kick your feet up and just do something that's not on your mile-long to-do list 🙈
We constantly feel like we're losing time, chasing after items on our checklists and trying to commit to schedules. While all this is really good stuff, there's nothing better than telling your racing mind to just give it a rest 😂✨

Snapshot of daily life....coffee, cinnamon roll, sweats. Doesn’t get much better than this. As promised some tips on getting through the holidays without driving yourself nuts. Here are my top 3 tips.
1) It is ok to delegate- No one says you have to do it all. Get some extra help around the house. Have the kids do chores (as Santa brings extra toys to those who help their moms 😘), ask people to bring different entrees to parties or holiday dinners, get your significant other to help with any normal things like emptying the dishwasher, an oil change, bills, folding the laundry, etc. If your are doing more this month like picking out all the presents (including one for his mother), writing and sending the cards, decorating, cooking, etc. Then I think it’s perfectly fair for your significant other to knock a few things of your to do list this month.
2) Shop online- I swear my stress was cut in half when I started shopping online. Plus majority of stores give free shipping around the holidays. Bonus if you have Amazon prime they ship fast too!!
3) Schedule some time for self care and to slow down. Maybe it’s a 30 min bath, maybe it’s enjoying a coffee at a cafe and reading a book, or maybe you just like to meditate and do a little journaling. I started planning out my weeks in December and I intentionally made sure to add in self care days.
I hope some of these tips help you to have a low stress delightful holiday season 😘 Heck even my look reduced my stress because I love sweatpants. I know some love leggings. I love sweatpants!

DAY THIRTEEN - DECLUTTER 🏠♥️ Today I want you to set aside time to decluttering your bedroom or another room in your house that needs some attention! Create some organisation and clarity in that room and get rid of anything that no longer serves you and donate it to charity. I know I personally started doing this recently and it was such a great feeling, I feel like it also allows for more organisation and clarity in your life/mind as well! 💫🙌🏻

looks like. I had to think about it for awhile bc I don’t know the last time I felt free. Obligations like my job, my house, my studies, my relationships, my obsessive need to clean everything methodically... twice... my “need” to worry about everything and everyone, my Monica Gellar people-pleasing bad habits and fear of saying no puts my #freedom
and my #selfcare
on the back burner. But if losing my mom has taught me anything, its that stress kills.
So I’m starting my new year’s resolution early, making a promise to myself to do something #liberating
every. single. day. 💫
