Since so many of the meals I’ve been sharing recently include shredded chicken, I thought it might be a good idea to share how I make mine! My recipe is really basic and takes little effort. And what is awesome is that from throwing in a whole chicken to make #shreddedchicken , I also get to make #bonebroth at the same time! 👍👍 Ingredients: Whole organic chicken 3 celery sticks 4 rainbow carrots 1 onion 5-6 garlic cloves Filtered water 2 TBSP Himalayan salt 1/4 cup of Apple Cider Vinegar Directions: 👉Place whole chicken in the crockpot 👉Add in veggies 👉Fill with filtered water 👉Add 2TBSP of salt 👉Add ACV 👉Let it cook on high for 6hrs or low for 8hrs 👉Remove veggies 👉Separate the chicken from the bones 👉You now have shredded chicken to make easy, healthy meals! As young as I was five I remember everyone around me had something to say about my body before I could even begin to process what it felt like to actually live in it or form my own opinions about it. And sad to say, my Korean family wasn’t the place to find much validation when it came to physical appearance ( 🤔 not even emotional 🤣 🤣). I learned to cope with the chaos and my negative emotions by going inward—blaming myself for everything wrong that happened thinking that it was my fault people were always upset, and then using food as a visceral form of control. . . I have been on the near-death extreme of being thin as well as the prediabetic side of being overweight and in both scenarios I was miserable and wanted to end my life. That’s how I know for sure, happiness does not come from a number on the scale or from the physical appearance of my body. It took me years to learn, and I’m still learning, that happiness is a choice unattached to what I look like or what I do, and that I get to choose to love myself #nomatterwhat . Because WHY NOT? If I’ve learned the habit of flagellating myself with self-hate then I can just as easily learn the habit of pouring on the love! . . The picture here is an activity I found on Pinterest a while ago that I loved—naming the parts of my body and giving it thanks. How well do you know your GI tract? You're looking at your rectum here. The rectum begins at the end of our large intestine (sigmoid colon) and ends with the anus. The rectum is normally empty, as stool (waste) is stored higher in the descending (end) of our colons. When the descending colon becomes full, stool passes into the rectum, and we have the urge to move our bowels (pass stool). Bowel movements are important to our health! That leads us to your anus — the opening at the far end of our digestive tract, after the rectum, from which stool leaves our body. The anus is formed partly from the surface layers of the body, like our skin, and partly from our intestine. A muscular ring, the anal sphincter, keeps the anus closed until we have a bowel movement. There are so many supplements out in the market now that it’s so hard to know what you should be taking to help you achieve your goals. . Well first off let me start with saying, they are supplements. They should only be used to supplement places where you need help “filling gaps” at no place or time should they take the place of whole food. . I am really good about getting most of my macronutrients through Whole Foods. Where I have a bit more of a struggle is my Micronutrients. . We visited #stonehenge today on a whim, on the way back from a #family break away. I like to #wonder . It fills me up, I feel part of something bigger, a stage in #history . I hadn’t known about the large number of #burialmounds around the structure, either, which may well have been its purpose. It was probably lost, mainly, on the small one but he enjoyed playing #threelittlepigs in the straw huts of the exhibition. And they both enjoyed making bracelets using #prehistoric techniques with flax.
