There are days I feel drained, emotionally ready to give up, in pain, and battling a life long autoimmune disease that will never fully go away can be exhausting. One of my most IMPORTANT tips to reducing bloating / gas / digestive discomfort is... ✖️figure out which foods don’t agree with your body and STOP eating them immediately! 💡 For me, this meant cutting out onions almost COMPLETELY - in any form. ➕ Also, only eating fruit on an empty stomach by itself, which I’ll talk about more in a future post. The best way to do this is by really paying attention to when you have discomfort and taking note of all the ingredients in what you ate. Keeping in tune with how your body is feeling and reacting to things and perhaps keeping a food diary will help with this. Notice how your body feels differently after certain meals, and then try cutting out common problem foods one at a time to figure out which is bothering you. Some examples: onions, garlic, gluten, apples, dairy, refined / processed sugar, coffee, etc. You may end up just having to reduce quantities or combinations, but experimenting is how you’ll figure out what works best for your body.

So if the body is already great at self-cleansing, why do people detox in the first place? . Most people believe that the theory behind a detox diet is to give the body a break, then one can atone for unhealthy lifestyle food choices and purge on foods containing nasty chemicals - It’s a health reboot, a fresh start. . Among many problems, detoxes and cleanses are often: ❎ protein deficient, ❎ extremely low in energy, ❎cause unhealthy blood-sugar swings, ❎cause GI tract dysfunction, and ❎lead to a yoyo of restrictive eating and overcompensation. . . The reason folks lose a remarkable amount of weight very quickly once on a detox regimen is because they’re “empty” - they lose body water, carbohydrate stores, and intestinal bulk.
