I uncorked a heart-warming #ChiantiClassico
in Chianti. My father-in-law Gianfranco gifted me this #bottle
, which spent many years in his #cellar
. As usual, it is a lovable experience to find out how time changes #wine
, although it is not always a happy surprise.
A deep garnet red welcomed my sight, like the noble blood of the land which feeds the #vines
. Then, orange shades appeared on the dark texture, which reminds the red soil of certain #Tuscan
hills. The nose was satisfied thanks to a complex smell of ripe red fruit, like black cherry, dried flowers and graceful aromas of black pepper, barley coffee, roasted hazelnut and elder wood. The sip was round, unexpectedly well-balanced, and gave suggestions of coffee and liquorice twig, while the aftertaste showed even balsamic notes.
It has been #amazing
to discover some of Gianfranco’s characteristics in this #Chianti
, maybe because the bottle was in his cellar for the last fifteen years. The colour, deep red and aged, was like both his strong commitment for women and his old school way of approaching; the smell, just as his behaviour, so discrete and then, if you choose to listen to him, so complex and unpredictable; finally, the taste, strong and polite at the same time, ending with a sort of a smooth-textured wisdom. .
