If you've seen the gathering at the newspaper stand in Ketu, then you are familiar with his office. Oga Bello, as he is fondly called has put in over 25years into the newspaper vending business. His office is a platform for all manners of discussants on national issues, politics and sports. He stands through heated arguments untouched by the scenes before him. He does not direct the scenes, he just watch in silence knowing that the arguments in his parliament are always resolved. I asked him what has kept him in the business for this long and he smiled and said ' I love my work.
I hate pigeons, but they make for a decent picture 🕊
I have never been nationalistic not Spanish or Catalan. I feel that I am just a human being. I feel connected to both. After six years and a half living far from Barcelona, I started to feel a little bit disconnected from my own origins. I couldn’t understand what was going on in Catalonia. Most of my friends were supporting the independence. I just felt sad. That’s how this project started. Trying to reconnect with my own origins and trying to understand the supporters of the independence of Catalonia. I started spending time with the Young Republican Left of Catalonia. Discussing with them about what it means to be Catalan, their culture, the Catalan soul and how they perceive the future of Catalonia. #documentary #documentaryphotography #photography #catalonia #spain #independence #nationalism #portrait #analogue #filmisnotdead #spicollective #catalan #culture #soul

I asked them about places that will represent the Catalan soul. One of the places is Plaça Neri. In 1938 during the Spanish Civil War, Francisco Franco laid siege to the city of Barcelona. On the 30 January 1938, one of Franco's bombs fell on the church killing 30 people most of whom were children from the School of Sant Philip Neri and some were refugee children from Madrid where the church had been turned into a makeshift orphanage. Evidence of the bombings can be seen in the pockmarked walls of the church. Life continues and now children play in the place. #documentary #documentaryphotography #womanphotographer #catalonia #spain #analogue #filmisnotdead #catalan #spicollective #photodocumentary #barcelona
