☞ tako’bout awesome and tasty takoyaki, come to Kita No Donburi!
The takoyaki at Kita No Donburi is one of my favourites. Different from other traditional Japanese restaurant, this restaurant cooks and serve their takoyaki is a more authentic way with their special with sauce and garnish. The dish comes in 8 big filling takoyaki pieces even with a reasonable prize! I see a lot of people ordering just the takoyaki for their lunch the last time I was there too😂😂

Chotto Matte are doing a buy 1 main get a 2nd donburi for $1 special for the month of July. My colleague and I visited last Friday, sharing the following food to go along with our bubble teas:
- beef pepper rice (hot plate) $16.80
- eel don $1! (normally $15.80)
- complimentary miso soup (self service from an urn)
The beef pepper rice smelt really good when it was brought out to the table, and the meat got some good charring from the hot plate. Taste wise it was better than the eel don, but couldn't compare to the taste of a similar dish from Pepper Lunch (and wasn't anywhere near as peppery). The eel don looked disappointing plain presentation wise - a $16 dish that was just eel on a heap of rice with shredded seaweed for garnish. There eel itself was decent, but there wasn't nearly enough sauce to go with the rice - contrast this with the sauce on my crispy chicken rice that I had yesterday.
It wasn't all that busy when we visited just past noon - ordered straight away and everything came within about 10 minutes.
Seating wise there is only one table that fits more than 2 people. The rest is counter style or small tables for 2. I actually returned in the evening in a party of 4 but the one larger table was already taken, which meant we couldn't sit anywhere facing each other to talk properly. We did try to book but they don't take bookings for such a 'small' group. So we walked out ... and that's how I ended up eating at Malacca up the road.
