When’s the last time you showed up as only *one* thing?
For an hour. A morning. A day. A week.
Just being a __________. Or two things. Or even only 3.
Cuz we try to be all the things at the same time, right? A good worker, daughter, lover, helper, activist, friend, sister, community member, etc. All that by noon each day. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It’s so “natural” to us we don’t even notice our brain in overdrive some days. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Then we get home and we’re exhausted. Mind numbed. Worn down.
I challenge you to try being one thing. Just one. Try it for 30 minutes. I want you to focus on just being a person who eats dinner, or who does yoga, or who is at their hair appointment. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Turn your phone on do not disturb. Stop checking 7 apps. Stop planning your moms birthday party in your mind while sitting in a conference meeting (looking at you, Leslie Knope 😂 )
I did just this this weekend. I decided I was just someone on vacation. Even put an out of office reply on my personal email. #boundaries
