Being pushed off by the legendary Dave Jones on the evening 10TT. There are a few legends within #newburyroadclub
and this is very definitely one of them. 87 years old, roughly 1000k a month, knows every road/track within a 150 radius and if I can have half the adventures and stories he’s had, I reckon I will be doing well. I always look forward to my club rides with these guys. Always a new road, always a new story and I am always humbled by the races they used to do back in the day. #legend #legendary #torqfuelled #timetrial #dontmakethemliketheyusedto
Yesterday the Queen of soul passed- Aretha Franklin...yesterday also marked Elvis’ 41 years ago. The King of rock. The king needs a queen 😔 two true icons. The photo is my dad- age 17. He always spoke highly of Elvis ...he told me that he related to Elvis because of similar poor upbringings and he admired the way in which Elvis was not ashamed of that. He saw Elvis embrace all people and Dad likes that ‘I talk to everyone’- you nice to me I be nice to you’. Elvis also made dad realise that he could be different, dress different and think different to his parents and that was ok too. It didn’t make you a ‘bad person’. Lastly Dad tells me the story that he was 16 working on the factory floor and this voice comes over on the radio ‘a sound like I never heard before’ he tells me. Dad asked a work mate in broken English ‘who this?’. That night after work he went and got a magazine with Elvis on the cover. He held onto that magazine for months taking it every day to work. During meal times dad would eat quick and then go sit with the Australian men and ask them ‘what this?’ Pointing to a word in the magazine...slowly slowly Dad learnt how to speak English. Elvis was dad’s English teacher...but he was also dad’s connection to this new country and the people in it. He didn’t want to be looked at as ‘Damian the immigrant that came in on the boat’ he was known as ‘Damo! the kid that loves rock n roll like everyone else’ #dadrocks #elvispresley #familystory #arethafranklin #kingandqueen #stilllearningenglish #50s #style #dontmakethemliketheyusedto #rebelwithacause #thankselvis #trueicon #queenofsoul
FOR SALE: By Owner (14.5k) - 1932 Plymouth Barn Find This was a brilliant barn find.. Selling it for much less than the money I actually have in it. Rust free and appears to be the original motor, unmolested body, and possibly the original paint.
I do have the clean blue Texas title in my name, runs and drives (carburetor needs to be rebuilt), brakes work , strong antique.
I had the interior done with high quality wood work from a master wood worker, I tossed in some seats and threw some carpet down as a place holder but it looks pretty good!
I originally purchased this to turn into a hotrod but after finding that everything seemed so original I felt that this gem deserves a good home in someones collection. #plymouth #barnfind #antiquecar #dontmakethemliketheyusedto
How Brent feels about the main bedroom being pink & floral.....
We’re taking this wall out to make the room a little bigger, which is easier said than done - these walls are like concrete!
“You have served me well” I said to my Sunbeam hand mixer I received as a bridal shower gift 36 years ago! While making a fresh 🍑peach cobbler, it decided it was done.
😫 my new (and expensive) #geprofile
refrigerator is broken AGAIN. 3 months from installation and now 2 months after they helped us troubleshoot it over the phone 😤 #dontmakethemliketheyusedto
This was one of my first computers - the Commodore Amiga 2000 back in the late 90s, it had a mere 1MB of RAM, to put that into perspective - computers today can have more than 64GB RAM, that's 64,000MB - whoa!! 64,000% more RAM!!!
Went looking for a funky retro mirror, stumbled across Sooty, Sweep and Soo instead 😂 (it wasn’t for sale. Wouldn’t have bought it even if it was. Maybe)
