Zippers, velcro, and snaps make this dress up activity practical and “grown up” - something Mac is all about. She wants to be independent and gets easily frustrated when she can’t do it herself. Precious toddlers ☺️
I took some of Mackenzie’s 0-3 month clothes and showed her how to dress her stuff animals. She enjoyed the velcro swaddle, putting socks and hats on, and pulling the snaps and zippers down. It was tricky for her to pull the zipper back up, so I had to show her to use both hands to get more leverage.
Anytime a kiddo uses both of their hands at the same time, they are strengthening their bilateral coordination. Coordinating both ides of the body in an organized manner indicates both hemispheres of the brain are communicating to each other; super important! 🙌🏻
For older kids, try including buttons or lacing shoes. You could also put larger jackets around pillows.
