This long exposure was shot later in the evening back in early March and while I mixed the exposure lengths from a split second to 30 seconds, this was 5 seconds and allowed me to get some of those water and surf lines in the foreground. This was one of those skies that went from orange to the post sundown pink and purple and I spent much of the evening aimed in this direction rather than the pier. I usually stick to longer exposures when I shoot the ocean because from a fraction to a second or two, the inconsistent waves and surf can create a messy look I don’t really care for. This exposure at least gave me the foreground I was after even if the cloud blur wasn’t as prominent.
