Let's chat about why I love coconut water! First, my post workout craving is @harmlessharvest
coconut water! It's so good after an intense workout to replenish your electrolytes. Coconut water is so hydrating and contains less sodium, and more potassium than the leading sports drink. It also has less sugar than most sports drinks and the sugar content is only from what's naturally occurring in the coconut (most sports drinks contain either refined sugar or artificial sugar - no thanks)! Next reason: I'm currently breastfeeding which can cause me to get dehydrated quickly, so I drink this daily just for the hydration factor.
Lastly, I had to cut out almonds for a few weeks (my baby may be allergic), so I've pretty much replaced my beloved almond milk as a base in smoothies with coconut water. Blend up some coconut water with spinach, banana & a bit of avocado and it's one of my favorite easy-to-make smoothies!
Who else is a huge fan of coconut water?!

Reaching for a second cup of coffee and it’s not even 10am....the fatigue from overtraining is real. Here’s a reminder I needed in case it applies to anyone else- EAT CARBS when you’re training heavy. These PB&J homemade cookies are made with GF oats, bananas, and protein powder making them a great post workout treat to fully replenish and refuel 😍
All we can say is we’re loving that nearly 50% of this jar is #gr8nola
😉 when it’s this clean, you don’t have to skimp on portion size!

What you need: soak barley overnight, change water in the morning and add bites of squash. Cook for 20 minutes until ready. Add honey or maple syrup and devour this bomb 🙌🏽
Today’s dietary guidelines promote all fruit—fresh, frozen, and canned. But, what’s the deal with canned? 🤷🏻♀️ Food cans used to be doused with lead—so much so that people living off of canned food may have died from lead poisoning. Thankfully, as of 1995 the FDA made it a priority to ban lead-doused cans. Now that lead is no longer an issue, are canned foods healthy?
Firstly, it depends on what’s in the can. If it’s SPAM, I’d drag it to the trash. But what about canned fruit? 🍎🍐🍑🍓
We all know fruits and vegetables in general may be protective against disease and promote longevity. But few studies have examined whether the canning process affects this association, until now. Studies found that canned fruit did not seem to enable people to live longer and in fact, moving from fresh or dried fruit to canned fruit might even shorten one’s life. So, maybe dietary guidelines should emphasize fresh, frozen, and dried rather than canned.
Why such a difference? Well, there’s no more lead, but there is that plastic chemical called BPA—that is used in the lining of most cans and plastics, which can leach into the food, and may counterbalance some of the fruit benefits. BPA was first developed over a hundred years ago as a synthetic estrogen, but in the 50’s industries realized it could be used to make a type of plastic and the rest is history. What’s the deal with BPA? Well, that’ll be for another post but in short research shows a possible association in some chronic diseases, such as diabetes, reproductive disorders, cardiovascular diseases, birth defects, kidney diseases and breast cancer. In addition to BPA, canned fruit is often packed in syrup. 👎🏼 All that added sugar and the canning process itself may diminish some nutrients—potentially wiping out 20% to 40% of the phytonutrients, and about half of the vitamin C. So the next time you are at the grocery store, ap-peach-iate the whole fruit and don’t peach for the canned fruits. 🍑😂❤️

Double tap you you'd love to look like this!!
Double tap you you'd love to look like this!
Don't be fooled by labels! 🚫
These words are often marketing tactics to lure you in to thinking the product is superior! *
For example you may see a product marketed as "low carb!" but now think what is low carb to them and what does it mean to you? 🤔
Maybe for you low carb is <5 but to the company it's <20.
Just be mindful, read the ingredients/ nutritional label and make the decision for yourself!
other than the food I eat, I haven’t shared much about me on this account. thought it was time for those of you who follow me, and don’t personally know me off IG, to get to know me a little.
here’s 5 random facts about me:
1. I go to Indiana University and study Public Relations with a minor in Sports Management!
2. I’ve been reading food blogs since I was 14 years old. My favorites are @ambitiouskitchen
3. I’m obsessed with craft beer. take me to a brewery and I am one happy girl!
4. I LOVE food (obviously) but if I had to pick something to eat everyday for the rest of my life, it’d be a gyro with all the toppings. greek food = 💛💛💛
5. Two of my absolute best friends are from Australia and it is my dream to travel there one day! I’d also love to go to Greece, Fiji, and Italy.

sweet and savory english muffin MOUNTAINS for some post-workout pre-work fuel! ⛰💕
another extra-early wake up call for me to fit in everything I love to do in my morning routine before I head into work! 🤗 it’s also exciting to think that one month today, I fly to Scotland for my cousins wedding 💃 and then I’ll be spending the next two weeks visiting Stockholm and Dublin! It’s safe to say this next month leading up to the trip will be pretty busy. My work has been and will be giving me about 30 hours a week (totally not complaining - they really like me, and I’m good at it!), and along with my marketing internship, it really hasn’t left me with much time to work on some exciting things I had in mind for ‘Leanne lives healthy’. everything happens for a reason, and my dreams and aspirations aren’t gone, I’m just putting them on hold for a different season of my life!
with that being said, I’m off to work ✌🏻 I hope you all have a wonderful Friday eve! 😘

Scrambled eggs, quinoa, avo, and fruit 🙆🏼♀️ I’ve been having the same breakfast combos all week because I didn’t want to get too much food and have to waste it 💯 So this morning was leftover frozen quinoa and then just easy stuff we had in the fridge 👌🏻 Went with some scrambled eggs instead of fried 😋 Ended up tasting so good 🙌🏻 We were going to get up early again to walk at sunrise butttt the snooze button got the best of me 😅 It happens and my body probably needed the extra sleep 😴 Plus there’s no better time to sleep in than vacation, right? 😎 Took it easy this morning with this breakfast, now I’m going to get a BBG workout in 👊🏻 I don’t always work out on vacation but sometimes it just feels good to get a good sweat it 🤗 Eli and I are going to hopefully paddle board also which I’ve never done and I’m sure I’ll struggle a little bit with because I am so uncoordinated 😂 But it’s always good to try new things! Have a good one guys 💕 —————————————————————————- #breakfast

Plain and simple: oatmeal is the best and I think I’m addicted 😅 pretty sure this is day 26 in a row I’ve had it... ooooops!! During my run 🏃🏽♀️ this morning I was craving melted peanut butter, so i went back to my classic banana and peanut butter oats .... amazing 🙌🏻 Hope everyone has an incredible Thursday! Here’s how I make it: I took 1/2 cup of rolled oats, 1/2 cup of @califiafarms
almond milk, and cinnamon then soaked them all together overnight. This morning I put the oats in a bowl, microwaved them for 1 minute and then for 30 seconds, then I added @earthbalance
peanut butter, banana slices, and a strawberry cut up!
Off to the beach 🏖 today, but first a little #ThursdayThought
👉🏼 ALWAYS BE KIND.⠀
Anyone you encounter could be fighting their own secret battle. ⠀
I used to be so guilty of always expecting the worst of others and taking anything they said so personally. If someone looked at me funny or had even a little bit of an attitude, I was quick to judge, cut down, complain..⠀
Now I know better. I've grown as a person and come to realize that not everything is about ME. I'm now much more inquisitive when faced with conflict. Instead of rushing to judge I'll stop and think that maybe something went wrong in THEIR DAY. 💖⠀
Just remember that anyone you cross paths with has their own life and their own troubles that you don't even know about. Think twice and ALWAYS BE KIND ✌🏼️💗⠀
Okay here we go🚨🚨.
It took me some time to post it, as this is one of my insecurities but at least it’s real and that’s what counts. Because sometimes it’s like we forget that stretch marks, cellulite and some stomach fat is natural. We forget that we are born human and physically can’t be perfect. Yet all this is evidence that you’ve lived and the sun has shone on you and you’ve grown and maybe fell a few times but you are still you. And honestly, that’s one of the most uplifting things to realize. I’m proud of my body with all my imperfections. I hope you are too.🧡
30 years old & I still make my friends cut my food for me 😜. @qtkends
expertly cut this ✨Poached Egg✨ for us. (Lauren always cut my chicken in college as I couldn’t handle bones 😬😬...I still can’t, but now just avoid them altogether). .
Lauren treated me to the best dinner last night @narcissa.
We ordered all the vegetables & just had lovely ✨quality time✨. She even accompanied me to buy peanuts & pecans in bulk. What a gem! I left dinner with such clarity about 🌱my biggest strength🌱: choosing friends (& husband). I have managed to attract the most amazing people into my life. I don’t exactly know how I charm them, but I’m so fortunate that I do. #luckyabby #happyabby #choosetorefuse #plasticfree
