Cows do not lay eggs 🐄 Eggs come from chicken 🐓 This topic is one that gets brought up all the time! It seems so simple, but in reality, MANY people think that eggs are dairy 🥛 And it’s not your fault if you think that! Eggs are always associated with dairy - whether it’s in the supermarket or in the food pyramid, it’s very easy to forget that eggs are not in fact dairy 🍳 That means, if you are allergic to dairy, you are not necessarily allergic to eggs too. And if you are allergic to eggs, you are not necessarily allergic to dairy too! What is something that you’re allergic to that people often get confused with a different food? 🍣🍤 Tell me in the comments 👇

Shout out to Enjoy Life for the trial pack of 10 allergen free goodies for Leo for the flat rate of $15! I usually put sweets in Zoie’s stocking, but hadn’t this year because I didn’t want Leo to feel bad, not to mention the lack of options for him and how costly they can be. This came with a variety of mini cookies, snacks bars, a marshmallow bar, and a full size pack of cookies. Thankfully, they are free of ALL 8 of his allergens!! He annihilated the chocolates chip mini cookies. 🍪👶🏻 Now they both will have a marshmallow bar and some mini cookies. 🤗😋 It’s seems so little, but this is so huge for us🥰 @enjoylifefoods @kidswithfoodallergies #MerryChristmas #eatfreely #healthybabies #happymama #momlife
When you buy a can of green peas but you open it to find corn... 😂 It’s hilarious 🤣Unless you have a life-threatening allergy to corn 🌽 Then it’s not funny anymore. In fact, it’s dangerous🚨
No matter how careful you may be, things happen. Mistakes happen. It’s human nature. You might have read the ingredients of this can, even called the company to ensure no cross contamination, and opened it to find this. Someone else who was cooking for you may have read the ingredients, opened it and not even noticed that it was corn, and used it anyways and fed it to a corn allergic person.
My point is not to be afraid to live. My point is to always be prepared. No matter how vigilant you are, no matter how responsible you are, mistakes happen. Always be prepared. Have your action plan. Have your meds. Carry your EpiPens everywhere.
This is a huge reason I’m such an advocate on seeking treatment. Because no matter how responsible you are, how vigilant you are, how prepared you are, we are all humans at the end of the day and mistakes happen. And not everything is in your control.
With that said, this company should most definitely be held liable!! This is completely NOT OK. But it happened. This is real. Dealing with life-threatening food allergies can be so scary and hard sometimes. Something like this would freak me out. 😔 What about you? I would probably be scared to eat the rest of the day.
What do you think about this situation? What do you think about treatment vs avoidance? Would you be freaked out by this? Tell me your thoughts in the comments 👇
So it’s been a while since I’ve posted. I honestly hadn’t really felt inspired or as if I had enough time to take pictures. But this week, I decided to take some things into my own hands and make time for baking and taking pictures because it makes me happy. And wanna know what else makes me happy? @kalejunkie
life changing tahini chocolate chip cookies! They came out perfect this time (I’ve made them a bunch since she posted the recipe). Usually the cookies still spread a lot despite refrigerating, and once they cool, they are a little bit like cooked cookie dough 😍 That version of these cookies inspired some chocolate chip cookie “dough” ice cream that I’m hoping to have posted soon (these cookies were supposed to go in the vanilla base but they came out too good, I just wanna snack on them 🙈). I’ve got some other great ideas to share with you all, so stay tuned!!

Have you ever seen those cookie truffle kits? I happened to spy these cool kits at Target 🎯(while I was trying to avoid the dollar aisle, per usual). Sadly, they were filled with ingredients I have to avoid . Aka the gluten monster! 🤣
My first thought? “There’s got to be a way to make these gluten free. And with wholesome ingredients-none of this processed junk!” Self to self: “Challenge accepted.” 😂
The results? VEGAN NO BAKE CHOCOLATE COVERED COOKIE TRUFFLES. Only 5 ingredients and so easy to make, a caveman could do it🙈 (anyone else remember those commercials?🤣)
What you need:
✔️6 oz. gluten free cookies (we used 12 mini soft baked @enjoylifefoods
✔️1 cup #glutenfree
✔️heaping 1/3 cup nut or sunflower seed butter🥜
✔️1 tsp. vanilla
✔️1/2 cup dairy free chocolate chips (we used @enjoylifefoods
(Optional toppings: sprinkles, sparkling cane sugar, melted #vegan
white chocolate, etc.)
* blend cookies in food processor until batter is crumbly. Place in large mixing bowl.
* Crush or process the pretzel sticks until crumble mixture is formed. Add to the cookie mix. Mix well.
* Add nut butter and vanilla. Mix with a spoon or hands until a cookie dough batter is formed.
* Roll dough into golf ball sized balls. Repeat until you’ve used al the batter (should make 12-14 truffles.) Freeze for 10 minutes.
* Melt chocolate chips; remove cookie dough bites from freezer and coat with the melted chocolate. Decorate with sprinkles or freeze for another 10 minutes and drizzle with white chocolate.

Christmas morning can be full of joy. Believing in Santa is a magical experience we create for our children to help them become mindful of their behavior. Do you remember a favorite gift you got from Santa? This mindfulness needs to be cultivated year round. We need to continue to have the conversations with our kids around behaviors and being impeccable with their words and actions. Trying their best and always asking questions to seek understanding and clarity instead of making assumptions. My girls believe Santa has food allergies mainly from a movie they have watched where he was allergic to peanuts. They also believe, that as long as you believe, it is real. This is faith. To believe in something without proof. I love this photo the smiles, the joy of anticipation, and faith they have the stocking is full of safe treats. The @enjoylifefoods

Let’s talk about: RISK. 🚨
The risk of an allergic reaction, the risk of anaphylaxis. Today, I had to work on something with this girl. We were in a group of 4 people so it wasn’t just her and I, but I was sitting next to her. Halfway through she said she’s hungry and pulled out a sandwich.
It was very obvious that it was peanut butter 🥜 - not only could I see it but I also slightly smelled it. She has no idea that I’m allergic to peanuts, or that I have food allergies in general. I never mentioned it.
In a situation like this, I think it is very important to discuss the difference between perceived risk vs actual risk. You see, if you ask me if I felt uncomfortable, then the answer is yes. YES!! I slightly backed away, I felt a bit uneasy. Was I worried that I would have an allergic reaction or even go into anaphylaxis? NO, not at all. And that’s the difference between perceived risk vs actual risk.
I didn’t say anything about it - because we weren’t touching the same things, she wasn’t breathing on me, and she wasn’t smearing it everywhere. It was contained, she was touching her pen and her book, and I was touching my pen and my book. And after an hour of working together, I went home perfectly fine.
How do you handle situations like this? Tell me in the comments 👇
Happy Tuesday! I’ll be enjoying this Tuesday afternoon full of baking, errands, and homework. (Maybe I’ll even get a haircut- I’ve been putting that off for weeks now 😭😂) @cleaneatsbytay
has a tradition where she sneaks in a healthy, home cooked lunch into a movie every week- by herself. Reading that, I was so inspired by that simple act of self care and I realized that we all need to have fun with ourselves! It’s fun to catch up with friends and hang out with our family, but it’s ok to go on dates just by ourselves. (don’t worry about people judging you- who cares!) We often think self care is just taking bubble baths or getting a manicure, but we can forget that sometimes it’s refreshing to the mind if we are just simply alone. So, when you are taking some time for yourself this week, try baking these DELICIOUS chocolate pumpkin muffins. They’re soft, gooey, and moist- (sorry I hate that word but it was needed). Plus, they’re gluten free (completely flourless), dairy free, and refined sugar free! The recipe is UP on the blog (check under the breakfast tab🥰) #enjoylife #eatfreely #feedfeed
Just saw that the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau of the Treasury that regulates alcohol labeling is considering making allergen labeling on alcohol voluntary with exceptions granted by petition. Proposed rules changes published 11/26/18. Comment period ends 3/26/19. HUGE opportunity to improve allergen labeling on alcohol and keep people safer. @FoodAllergy @faactnews
Today is no regular Tuesday — It’s National Cookie Day (I mean, sometimes these ‘national days’ are a bit much... but who doesn’t love a cookie?) So I wanna know, 1: What’s your favorite kind of cookie? and 2: If you could share some with ANYONE, who’d it be? Me? I’m a sucker for classic chocolate chip with some toffee swirls inside. But even more than that, are these extra special, secret family recipe cookie bars, my family has been enjoying for generations. I had the privilege of making them for the first time this last month. That first bite instantly took me back to all the special family dinners these cookie bars were devoured at, especially the time I was introduced to them at my first family dinner with my husbands giant Italian family 💗 So, what’s your favorite cookie?
