Did you used to (or still currently) used to avoid certain foods because you thought they’d make you gain weight?
What if I told you that that idea is completely false?
I used to think that things like ice cream & peanut butter would immediately add 10 lbs to my body. These were foods I LOVED (& still love!), but avoided like the plague because I was so obsessed with becoming smaller when I was in 7th-9th grade.
But guess what? Our bodies don’t know the difference between ice cream & chicken or cereal & vegetables.
All our bodies see when we eat is calories: protein, carbs, & fats. They see energy. They see fuel. We can gain just as much weight overeating chicken & vegetables as we can overeating ice cream, peanut butter, or cereal.
The body is really quite simple. We need proteins, carbs, & fats to survive (as well as micronutrients, water, etc.....okay real talk I could go a lot more in depth here, because all these matter too, but for simplicity’s sake let’s keep it at this). Our bodies use these nutrients to recover from daily activity, build muscle, & transport vitamins & minerals throughout our systems among other functions. What we need of those 3 MACROS each day is dependent on our individual body’s, metabolism, genetics, & fitness goals. But no specific food can make us gain weight. Knowing what your goal is & knowing what your body needs each day to reach that goal....that’s what’s going to make the difference! That’s where macros come in.
Learning this changed my life. Macros took me from a place of fear with food to a place of joy. I eat peanut butter on a daily basis during my preps...I can’t live without it 😍🥜
What’s one thing you can’t live without?

This light Alfredo-ish pasta dish is incredible! Butter, evoo, @jonesfamilyfarms
garlic, Parmesan, mascarpone, lemon juice and zest... finished with peas and @halasfarmmarket
Swiss chard. So light, bright yet cheesy and buttery. Kids are devouring. #eeeeeats
1 cup of berries...that’s how you measure, right? 😋☕️
Spicy detox cabbage soup--this one was inspired by a recipe I saw on the "Savory #Vegan
" blog. The original recipe called for beefless boullion from "Better Than Bouillon" brand, but since I could not find it, I used low-sodium Vegetarian "No-Chicken" broth from "Imagine" brand instead. I stir-fried the onions, garlic, ginger, and cabbage (Bok choy & a bag of coleslaw cabbage w/ carrots and red cabbage), fresh celery & mushrooms w/ a little Braggs liquid aminos, rice vinegar, and sesame oil. I added a cap full of ACV. Seasonings later added to the broth include: black pepper, LOTS of turmeric, smoked paprika, and curry powder. I added Sriracha to taste for heat..a sprinkle of sugar to balance out some of the more pungent flavors. Salt to taste as needed at the end. Stay tuned for more comfort food & soup/stew recipes, as that's all I'll be making as we transition into #Fall

This morning’s breakfast!😋Organic oatmeal cooked with frozen blueberries added in...then topped with walnuts, hemp seeds, and a tiny bit of maple syrup. This breakfast always fills me up for hours!!! Love it!💜
Lunch is served! Super easy and fast. Two eggs, I/4 avo, salad mix, 1/4 sweet potato for the healthy carb and pico on top for flavor! And to think people think we don’t eat! 🤷🏼♀️ trust me we eat. We just eat clean ☝🏽😉

I just might have found my new favorite @questnutrition
bar 🤩! I was expecting this bar to be good, but not as amazing as it was 😍. When I opened the package I immediately smelled peanut butter 🥜, but the taste was perfect and I loved the nuts that were in the brownie layer! If you like chocolate and peanut butter, trust me, you’ll LOVE this 👆! ••• Change of plans! Instead of having family come over to our house, we are going over to my Aunt’s house for dinner 😆. We are ordering pizza 🍕 and salads 🥗 so I’m going to enjoy my “free meal” tonight with them 😉. I hope you all enjoy the rest of your evening and get pumped for the weekend 🙌!
Heck YEAH it’s Friday! Have you been to @yeahburger
lately? Not only do they still have their original gluten-free vegan burger (beans & brown rice ftw) they’ve totally beefed 🐮 up *pun intended* their vegan options lately, adding the @beyondmeat
vegan cheeses 🧀. Aka if you’re vegan, dairy free, or just want to try out something new for meatless Monday, don’t sleep on @yeahburger.
I went with @guacandrollbaby
earlier this week and here’s what i got: vegan patty, vegan pepper jack, tempeh bacon, onion, jalapeño and tomato in a collard wrap. 💁🏻♀️ Who’s going back with me next time?
We are in Mexico for a week, so expect some food pictures. 🙃This is my first time at an all inclusive resort and needless to say I was terrified of what the whole food situation would be. The buffet is open almost all day so I definitely don’t have an excuse for not eating. Any suggestions for some food challenges?
Lately I have allowed myself to become negatively charged in my thoughts. It's hard not to be overly critical when my profession is to be critical with clients. However it's also my job to be an extrinsic source of motivation, a voice of reason, and sometimes that gym therapy couch. I cannot allow my energy to sour the progress of my clients, friends, co workers, and especially my wife. .
I have an infectious personality, one thing that makes me a good coach! So I am in the need of kicking this negativity and moving forward with the process. .
So here is to bring real with myself, by improving and bettering my life and journey. Who knows, my experience could help you out some day! .

Who is ready for the weekend? 🎉 What are you saying “yes” to trying?🎢 And what will next week bring you? 🎁 I am planning to eat good food with friends and have zero regrets about it. #noregrets
After hours of meal prepping I’m sittin’ down for a minute. I wish I were one of those people that would just meal prep to be fit, but NO! It took me being depressed and debilitatingly fatigued to really turn my life around. I found out I had a disease called Hoshimotos, and that there are a lot of foods that take my energy away! So meat and vegetables have been my main food lately. My skin has really been clearing up, I get less annoyed with my husband😂 and I haven't experienced the darkness of depression I used to walk in daily. #eattolive
message me for the protein powder I use in the mornings to make my life easier!

I’m trying to use as much of our summer harvests as I can, while still being creative.
This one utilizes summer squash, tomatoes, & herbs... it’s simple!
3/4 cup of vegetable broth
Harvest, rinse, & cut/chop!
Add it all into a pan, and cover.
Cook on medium heat for 5-10 minutes, just until it softens enough.
Play around with seasonings, herbs, spice, and different vegetables.
