Can I just say, I am sooooo happy we got Costco? One of my first purchases were these lamb chops. I seasoned them with kosher salt, pepper and granulated garlic and then seared them in butter. I finished them in a 350° oven then topped them with herbed butter. Tonight we made homemade butternut squash ravioli from scratch with a couple of friends and it was just way too fun. With a little help from a @gordongram Masterclass, some creative license and giant appetites we crafted the most delectable fresh pasta. Yes, we used traditional flour and it was super neat to work with it to create a classic dish that had us all wishing for a second plate. On my plate: Baharat spiced butternut squash ravioli with a gorgeous tomato basil sauce topped with crisped mushrooms and local microgreens. Juice! Living with UC can cause all kinds of issues and just lately I have been dealing with a body that is not happy eating a bowl of fruit or a plate of salad. It’s difficult to deal with at times and my body is not absorbing nutrients well so yesterday morning we started our day with a freshly juiced celery and this morning again. Now I’m having a lovely juice of pineapple, apple, ginger, cucumber, spinach and carrots. What is under your work desk? Ans: Dumbbell and a pair of shoes... The dumbbell is there for convenient sake... Ya lah, after a day of work... How often does we end up picking up the dumbbell once we reach home... So, ya... I don’t eat during lunch... So if the weather do not permit me to go for a walk... I’ve the dumbbell to do the job... . Anyway, whenever you see me in that pair of grey shoes, you will know that I’m exercising at work or going for exercise from work... And whenever you see me wearing my black pair of shoes, you will know that I’m heading out for exercise from home... Very systematic right! All is within reach... So, there’s really no excuse for me... . What is in my work cabinet? Ans: My workout gear of course... I also have my moment of enthusiasm - sudden trigger to use the gym or to do Long walk; eg walking from Jurong East mrt to home (abt 3-4km) or alighting from Jurong East polyclinic bus stop to home (2-3km)... Did both couple of times and it’s definitely more comfortable to do so with proper shoes and attire... So, yeah... Salmon stuffed avocado 🥑 I’ve been looking forward to this. I just love avo and I know about half the planet agrees with that statement (otherwise there wouldn’t be merchandise sold with nothing but an 🥑 on it) 🤷🏼‍♀️... today I went out to eat for the first time and as annoying as I was requesting a super specific order, I was able to stay on The Myers Way 🙌🏼 small win over here. Today is day 17. Honestly- I’m still having a lot of pain. I don’t think this diet will help my pain like I did before. But I am curious to see where I am at on day 31. I’m still experiencing cravings for sugar and foods like peanut butter, Mexican food, burgers, and ice cream. I love food so I don’t know if these cravings will ever go away. Especially since I’ve come to believe I eat as a source of comfort... boyfriend breaks up with me? Netflix with some chips and salsa. Getting surgery? Netflix with some granola, yogurt, and a TON of peanut butter. Same thing, different meal haha. Life has been testing me lately so I find myself wanting to Netflix and chill with a bean and cheese burrito and some Ben and Jerry’s 🍦 I’ve got a long way to go. But following this plan has kind of become just one part of a detox within my entire being. Physical, mental, emotional. So I’m sticking with it. But I don’t know if I’ll be COMPLETELY sugar-free for life. Is that even sustainable? No way! The only way I would do that is if it truly does help my pain go away! So we shall see. Rant over. Today I wasn’t sure if I got glutened, or if I was coming down with the stomach bug. I think today has been the worst reaction I have had, as I haven’t had any issues for a long time. I’ve been really frustrated and embarrassed today. I feel like a failure because I failed my body, even if it was accidental. Tonight for dinner it was a PB, honey and banana sandwich with some plain rice. I’ve been sipping ginger ale all evening, and I’m pretty confident this is a gluten episode. I feel like I will be hyper vigilant about my food for a while now 😔
Turkey & rice lettuce salad cups. Cook 125g turkey mince with seasoning of choice add 1/2 cup cooked rice & heat through. Salmon salads with the most perfect glaze 👌🏼👌🏼 HELL YES. . —— •Mix 1/4 cup brown sugga, 2 TBSP white miso paste (could use tahini in place of the miso), 2 TBSP coco aminos, & 2 TBSP water •Lay salmon skin down on a broiling pan and slather that mixture on THICK . •Broil for 7-8 mins depending on the size of your salmon filets —— Served this over spring mix + arugula + shredded cabbage + radish (all from @yellowbirdfoodshed CSA box 🙌🏼🙌🏼). You’d think that the topic of eating healthier foods is a given, but I’m here to remind you of the important! • Look, I know how delicious 🤤 a juicy cheeseburger 🍔 and fries 🍟 washed down with a soda 🥤. We all do. Do I wish I could eat one every day? Hell yeah. But I’ve got goals and I’m assuming you do, too. • Eating a McDonald’s Big Mac with medium fries and a coke will run ya 1090 calories with 44g of fat and a whopping 144g of carbs 😱! Protein, at least by comparison to the other two macros is minimal at 29g. One meal - literally half of a 2,000 calorie diet. Add in a fancy Starbucks coffee ☕️ drink, maybe a candy bar and you’re probably real close to 2000 calories. • This is why it’s so important to choose more optimal to your health and goals. By comparison, you can have 150 cups of raw spinach 🌿 and that would run you 1,035 calories with 163g of carbs with 17.5g fat and 129g of protein. By no means am I advocating you go eat that much spinach! Just merely showing you the value of high volume foods. • By choosing to eat foods that are better for you 🥥🥩🥙, you can eat more, get more nutrients, and stay fuller for longer. That’s always the goal with fat loss! • There’s plenty of ways to be creative in the kitchen 👨‍🍳 and make great tasting meals with healthier ingredients. Don’t really like cooking? Many people get into a habit of eating the same thing every day but its so important to have a wide range of nutrients in your diet and you can only get these by diversifying your diet! Don’t get stuck on the same proteins and vege everyday! When it comes to protein fish is my fave but I don’t eat it every day.. I don’t believe you should have any of the same animal protein everyday so try and mix things up through out your week to give your body some vitamin and nutritional diversity!. When it comes to vege try cooking with a new vege every week!
