I created this tea blend listening to a heartfelt story of a friend returning to her childhood farm home to collect cuttings for the garden of her own home she is building with her family.
And this weekend I have accompanied #sistersofthemoon_mylor

I lived a fast food/takeout lifestyle and the produce section of the grocery store was like visiting a foreign country. 😂 Over the years I’ve learned how to live better but it was a process. If you’re looking to eat better and experience more out of your life here are some my favorite kitchen tools to for the journey:
1️⃣ Power blender- I’m partial to Vitamix and it’s Isaac’s fault. When we met 9 years ago I started using it and I’ve loved it ever since. Smoothies, soups, ice cream, salad dressing it does it all and it does it best. .
2️⃣ The Instant Pot - This is such a high value cooking tool. It’s a pressure cooker, slow cooker, rice and quinoa cooker, chili/stew cooker and it does even more. If you’ve been on the fence about Instant Pot - yes, it does live up to the hype...IF you use it. .
3️⃣ Food Processor- I luuuuuv to cook but sometimes I don’t feel like doing all that chopping. Food processor to the rescue! Plus I use it to make these avocado bowls: https://bit.ly/2CsZTId ⬅️ My kids LOVE these! .
4️⃣ Electric kettle - Teas are some of the most healthy beverages we can drink. 🍵 Many are high in antioxidants and health boosting properties. Call me lazy but I’d rather bypass using the stove at the end of the day (when I usually drink tea).
5️⃣ Cookbooks - This is a small selection of the cookbooks I have. When I get in a cooking rut, these keep my cooking game on point and interesting. .
6️⃣ Essential Oils- We use and diffuse essential oils everyday- I apply them to the kids every morning before preschool to boost their immunity. I diffuse them in the house for energy and wellbeing and I cook with them too.
7️⃣Vita Clay Non Toxic Cooker- my favorite for making bone broth. It doesn’t get as hot as a pressure cooker. Too much heat can denature the vitamins and minerals in the bone broth depriving you of some of the benefits. Here’s how I use it to make bone broth: https://bit.ly/2CsZTId

Yes, I stopped several times to catch my breath. But would I have been as proud of myself if an elevator had taken me straight to the top? Hell no 🙅🏼♀️ When the going gets tough, you can choose to persevere and try to enjoy the process or you can complain about it and give up, your choice as to how you are going to climb is always yours.

Got cold oatmeal leftovers? Don't throw it out! Form a cake and fry in a pan with some butter and a dash of brown sugar, add chia seeds, cinnamon and ground ginger on top. Serve with a dab of Greek yogurt drizzled with honey, apple slices softened in the butter/brown sugar left in your pan, and toasted walnuts - et voilà - a healthy hearty yummy afternoon snack 👊

I rarely have oatmeal, but when I do, I make sure it looks good & tastes even better! I cook my oatmeal with water, cinnamon, & a little bit of egg whites. Topped it off with some diced green apples, strawberries, blackberries, a couple of dates, 1 tbsp. almond butter, & coconut shreds. Whether it’s your pre-workout or post-workout meal, use those extra carbs & natural sugars for fuel or refuel.

Quinoa and corn salad prepared as a food demonstration for a group of clients.
1 cup quinoa
1 tsp salt, divided
1/4 tsp pepper, divided
1-1/2 cups canned or thawed frozen corn kernels
1 cup chopped red pepper
1 cup chopped cucumber
1/2 cup chopped red onion
2 tbsp fresh lemon juice
1 tbsp red wine vinegar
1 garlic clove, minced
1/2 tsp dried oregano
1/4 cup olive oil
Rinse quinoa in strainer. Transfer quinoa to small saucepan; add 1-1/4 cups water, 1/2 tsp salt, and 1/8 tsp pepper. Bring to boil, then reduce heat to low and simmer, covered until water is absorbed and quinoa is cooked, about 15 min. Transfer to medium bowl and let cool.
Add corn and chopped vegetables to quinoa.
Stir together lemon juice, vinegar, garlic, oregano, and remaining salt and pepper in small bowl; add olive oil and whisk to incorporate.
Pour dressing over quinoa and vegetables; toss to combine.
