My new obsession? SMOOTHIE BOWLS! I love how easy and versatile smoothie bowls are! Not to mention you can change it up everyday - there’s endless possibilities so you never get bored or tired of the same old! Here’s my new take on a tropical smoothie bowl: PINK PITHAYA N’ PROTEIN TROPIX SMOOTHIE BOWL 🥰 Here’s how I made mine! • Blend 1/4 cup each of papaya, mango and banana! • Add 4 dairy-cubes (I make this by freezing my source of dairy or non-dairy sub in ice cube trays so my smoothie isn’t liquid-y). In this case I used @earthsowncanada Oat Milk Cubes • Add 1 serving of protein powder (I used @vega_team Vanilla Protein and Greens) • Add 1/4 cup of fresh pink pithaya or 2 tbsp of @unicornsuperfoods Pink Pithaya Powder • Blend! Breakfast or not Breakfast - this is the big question here. I don't know about your mum, but mine definitely has always tried to tell me that Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. And it looks like she might have been right. Yay to mum. New research out of Brazil has found that eating breakfast daily can lead to decreased BMI and body fat, regardless of how much exercise a person does. For the study, 85 teenagers were split into three groups based on how often they ate the morning meal: daily, 3 to 5 days a week or not at all. Their body weight, body fatness and trunk fatness were recorded at the beginning and conclusion of the experiment and their physical activity was tracked using pedometers. The researchers found that the teens who consumed brekkie every day over a period of a year had lower BMI and body fatness than their peers who skipped it every once in a while, or all together. But interestingly, after 12 months the difference was even more pronounced: those who ate breakfast regularly dropped weight at a higher rate than their peers – regardless of how much they were moving. Well, I don't know about you, but BMI, weight loss or not, for me breakfast still is my most favorite meal of the day. It just seems like everything seems to taste so much nicer :) What is your favourite breakfast?

I've been staying with my parents this week so I asked my dad if he wanted to share an avacado with me for breakfast. "That's not breakfast food!" he scoffed. Well, I think we can all agree that he is WRONG because everyone knows that avacado on toast makes the PERFECT breakfast. . . . . My mom always kindly makes me a soft boiled egg before she leaves for work. I love eggs and make them at home all the time. They are an excellent and easy source of protein. However, one egg by itself is simply not enough to hold me till lunch! I'm so glad that I am listening to my body now instead of ignoring it and practicing the art of giving it the nutrition it needs. This picture is fake news because I have been sick and so have my kids. Additionally, hubby can't walk because he had a foot surgery - so fun times in our household 🙈 BUT I wanted to talk about simple and sustainable changes. 2 things that will help you get on your way: 1) Drink your water. 8-16 oz of lukewarm or hot water in the morning will do wonders for your hydration and digestion. For additional detoxifying effect add half a lemon (I use 1 drop of the Doterra lemon essential oil- makes it so much easier), baking soda or a spoon of apple cider vinegar. Stay hydrated throughout the day, drink at least half of your weight in ounces. 2) Eat a nourishing breakfast. Make sure it is balanced and free from added sugar. So granola bars are other breakfast cereals are not the way to go. Definitely make sure there is some kind of protein source in there, it will keep you full longer. It's as easy at that.
