Happy Taco Tuesday! We celebrated with a Taco Salad using Raw Pecan Taco Meat. 🌮🥗 I took chopped spinach, tomatoes, onion, red bell pepper and tossed it in a tahini lime dressing. Then topped it with the "taco meat" and added some chips. Avocado or guacamole would be great on top as well. 😍😋 You can make the "taco meat" in 5 minutes, use it raw or even brown it, use it on nachos, in tacos and so forth. 🍭🤤Its no secret that sugar is addicting. Some of the things that have helped me are written above. 🙅🏽‍♀️Cutting out artificial sweeteners is a big one! Yes they have “zero calories’ however the sweetness still hits your tongue therefore the sweet signal is still sent to your brain and the addicting effects still occur. Cutting them out has helped a lot plus its way better for your gut microbiome! 🍽Eating 4 meals a day keeps my blood sugar levels steady. It has massively helped with cravings 🐟Getting enough Omega 3’s from say salmon or walnuts and even just good fats in general is huge! I always add in about 10-20g of good fat in each meal. ✅Checking for infections or deficiencies is important! I found out I had Candida and sugar cravings is one of the symptoms. These cravings were not normal for me, yes I have a sweet tooth but these cravings were very different and way more intense. Killing something like Candida can be a game changer. Its always worth going to a good doctor and doing a few tests especially if you feel like you are trying EVERYTHING but something still feels off! 😴Lack of sleep leads to an increase in the hunger hormone Ghrelin. Our body feels as though it needs to be awake, it needs more energy so its trying to signal us to eat more food to keep us going! If you are constantly getting poor quality sleep or even lack of sleep it will be difficult to control the sugar cravings due to this increase in Grehlin. Inadequate rest also leads to less leptin production. This is the satiety chemical and a study from 2004 showed that sleep deprived subjects demonstrated 15% lower levels of leptin which led them to eat more. Get yo sleep! Cut those cravings! ☀️Vitamin D is a steroid hormone and it amongst many other things, helps to improve insulin sensitivity. When you eat a lot of sugar your body releases a lot of insulin and your cells start to become resistant to it. Insulin helps to stop blood sugar levels from getting too low or too high. Insulin resistance can cause lot of issues from mood swings to obesity! Vitamin D can help to reduce this insulin resistance!

Stuffed bell peppers can take a few hours to make and bake, this soup can be on the table in about 35 minutes! Perfect wintertime weeknight dinner idea! I doubled the recipe to make LOTS for future lunches this week! } makes about 8 servings Ingredients: 1.5 lbs. lean ground beef or turkey meat 1 Tbsp avocado oil, or olive oil 1 large yellow onion, diced 2 red bell peppers, diced 2 green bell peppers, diced 2-3 cloves fresh garlic, minced or pressed 1 (14.5 oz) jar organic diced tomatoes with juice 1 (15 oz) jar organic tomato sauce 4 cups broth (I use chicken or beef...use your fave) 1 tsp dried basil 1 tsp dried oregano 1/2 Tbsp smoked paprika sea salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste (about 1/4 tsp each) 2 cups COOKED brown rice a small bunch of fresh parsley leaves chopped, to garnish Instructions: Heat oil in a large pot or dutch oven, over medium heat. Add ground meat and cook, stirring while breaking it up with a wooden spoon, until browned. Add onions, bell peppers, garlic and spices (dried basil, oregano and smoked paprika) and sauté for another 3 minutes, then season with sea salt and pepper. Pour in diced tomatoes, tomato sauce and broth. Bring it to a boil, then reduce heat to low, cover and simmer, stirring occasionally, for 15-20 minutes, or until flavors blend. Stir in cooked brown rice, garnish with fresh chopped parsley and serve warm. Enjoy! NOTE: If planing this recipe for meal prep, keep the cooked rice and soup into separate containers and only combine them before serving. How did I just discover this place 🤤 @botanicarealfood I’m not vegan but I do love my veggies 😍 Three different drool worthy salads packed into one box? This is what dreams are made of 🙌🏼 On the right we have a broccoli cranberry salad, in the middle we have a carrot chickpea curry salad and on the right we have a brown rice and spinach salad. I usually stay away from chickpeas and rice because they make me bloated but if I know I’m going to be eating something like this for lunch I fast until noon. This has nothing to do with calories or carb intake, i just feel like my body utilizes the rice better after fasting and it reduces my bloating. I am a massive believer of intuitive eating. I eat what my body needs and it works really well for me! Every body is different and there is no such thing as “one diet fits all”. Food is such an amazing tool for health and it doesn’t have to be boring 🌱✨

Ingredients 1 lb boneless skinless chicken breasts, grilled 12 oz dry spaghetti of choice 12 oz grape or cherry tomatoes, halved 7 Tbsp olive oil, divided 1 cup (45g) packed fresh basil 2 cloves garlic, minced 2 Tbsp pine nuts Salt and freshly ground black pepper 1/3 cup finely shredded parmesan cheese, plus more for serving Red pepper flakes, for serving (optional) . Directions Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Prepare pasta in a pot of salted water according to directions listed on package, reserve 1/4 cup of the water before draining. Toss tomatoes with 1 Tbsp olive oil and season with salt and pepper to taste. Spray a baking sheet with non-stick cooking spray and spread tomatoes into an even layer on baking dish and roast in preheated oven 10 - 15 minutes, until soft. In a food processor pulse together basil, garlic and pine nuts until minced. With processor running, slowly pour in 6 Tbsp olive oil in a slow stream. Pulse until finely minced and well blended. Add in parmesan cheese, season with salt and pepper (about 1/4 tsp of each) and process about 1 minute longer. Toss drained pasta with pesto and a few tablespoons of reserved pasta water as needed. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Top with chicken and cherry tomatoes. Sprinkle with parmesan and optional red pepper flakes to taste. . @wakeandtea @wakeandtea
🕘🕰 Intermittent Fasting🕰🕘 (part1) -- 🕛Sort of recently started incorporating intermittent fasting (IF) into my life which has been amazingggg. 😁 -- 🕧Basically what it is, is have an "eating window" of typically 8 hours, and not eating for the rest of the 16 hours. 😱 -- 🕛I've been eating this salad to break my fast everyday, and it makes me feel so healthy 😂. I follow it up with a meal with some animal protein and more fats 🥑. -- 🕘IF goes against what a lot of people believe/believed in. Instead of eating small meals throughout the day to keep the metabolism going, IF is the complete opposite, in which you eat maybe 1 or 2 big meals a day. 👌 -- Why fast? You gonna be hungry afff 💀 -- Yeah..., actually no. I could probably fast for an even longer period than 16 hours... I've done 24hrs before, and some people fast for even longer (up to like 5 days+). -- And the reason this is even possible, is how the body responds to fasting on a hormonal level. 👇 -- 🍕Grehlin=(aka "hunger hormone")🍟 -- ✏Basically increased levels of grehlin in the body make you hungry, eat more, etc. And these levels are at its lowest in the morning🌄 (so are you really hungry?) Maybe..., if you're body is also conditioned to always having breakfast when you wake up. 🥣🍳Kinda like the whole psychological experiments with pavlov's dogs🐶.. bell rings🔔.. saliva is stimulated. In this scenario, body wakes up, you think about breakfast🌯 🤷‍♀️. -- Slowly you can adapt to fasting longer hours, and experience multiple benefits of IF. So lately I’ve been really digging on this MASHED BROCCOLI... yeah yeah no, I get it, “yuck Isabel!”... but seriously this stuff is BOMB. I first tried it when I was in paris, because I was searching for veggies and this is all they had. I was so skeptical but honestly this stuff is so good and SO EASY to make. 🥦 🥦 🥦 If you’ve got picky eaters and/or you want to switch up your usual mashed potato routine, I’ve got you covered. 🥦🥦🥦 In this recipe it’s just broccoli, olive oil or avocado oil, salt and pepper (and a great food processor!)— basically steam the broccoli, put it in the vitamix, add olive oil, chicken broth if you have some, salt and pepper—> and voila! 🥦🥦🥦 and no, this isn’t a diet food for you to be restrictive with as we start to get worried about New Years resolutions and new year “new you” (because that ain’t how we work!)... it’s just another option for you to try. Delish 😍 Hasselback potatoes, beets ketchup and half an avo 😍 . Recipe for the beet ketchup : - 2 cooked beets - lemon juice - pink himalayan salt - pepper. Some minutes in a blender and it's done.
