That light! Emerald Lake.
My next few days are nuts! I'm flying to Newfoundland on Sunday to visit my Dad and between now and then I have a portrait shoot in Banff & a wedding in Banff, then I drive home to Edmonton to pack! And in the middle of all of that I am working hard editing all of the weddings and sessions I've had since September. So @gr3atwh1t3
, keep your eyes peeled in your inbox, your magical elopement photos from @emeraldlakelodge
are coming soon!
Flying is simultaneously the best, and worst thing. Looking down to views like this is magical, but when you’re 6’4, and 6’11, trying to fit your legs into seats is awful. Sometimes we will get moved up to the front so that we won’t be such an annoyance to all the people around us. 😂
The best view comes after the hardest climb. I’ll be forever grateful for this visit to the Canadian Rockies – relentless beauty, never-ending discovery and the best travel partner I could ask for.
Freedom; to me it is never knowing where your day is going to take you ✨ what does freedom mean to you?
Seasons are changing, it’s probably about time for a walk back up here to make sure the mountains are doing okay in the snow.
Emerald Lake looking like sapphire @joemackin
Joe’s photography is mostly throughout Canada. You’ll see a lot of the mountainous regions in the Rockies, some of Quebec, and so much more. If you’re into mountains and beautiful BC, you should definitely look into his work. It’s got me wanting to just stay in a cabin in the woods on my next trip. Like look at this lodge. Lake goals af
Today I watched the lake shimmer like a thousand diamonds were waiting to be found at the bottom of the bed, I looked on in awe as the beautiful golden pink hues of the sun reflected off the snow tipped trees, I experienced the bubbly curiosity of the friendliest wild chipmunk, I saw the majesty of quite possibly the largest elk known to man (it was the size of a double decker bus), I walked through the most beautiful forests of multicolored aspen, I inhaled the crisp refreshing smell of fresh fir... I could go on. Point is, I may have just fallen in love with Colorado 😍 #neaturewalks #wanderlust #estespark #bearlake #dreamlake #emeraldlake #colorado #adventuretime #adventureswith85
to fall 2017 and early mornings in the Canadian Rockies 🌅🏔 We hiked 50+ miles over 10 days. It was fantastic, and also something I never thought I’d find myself doing if you asked me 5 years ago.
Top hikes were Sentinel Pass from Moraine Lake and Path of the Six Glaciers from Lake Louise, which includes a backcountry tea house!
Highly recommend the Canadian Rockies - easy flight into Calgary and a 2-3 hour drive into Banff and Yoho. Don’t sleep on Jasper, which is further North but the drive along the Icefields Parkway alone is worth the price of admission.
same place. different season. new vision... & I’m wondering why I ever left
It's been a while since I've visited Emerald Lake, in fact I don't think I've ever been there when it wasn't covered in snow!
Although we weren't treated to an outstanding sunrise we did get perfect reflections and amazing mist on the lake. You can't really complain about that!
‘Like all mountain lakes, Emerald Lake is almost ice-cold and cannot support much life. Suspended rock flour (made by the grinding up of rocks by glaciers) gives The lake it’s brilliant color but reduces visibility and cuts the penetration of sunlight. Plants can’t grow in the dark and fish must be able to see to find much of their food. However, a few water plants and a small population of one celled plants and animals are food for some freshwater shrimp and small fish. Enough shrimp are present to feed the lakes largest residents: brook and rainbow trout. Here, like everywhere else on earth, life fights the odds and establishes its own natural level.” #canada #explorebritishcolumbia #allaboutadventures #emeraldlake #yohonationalpark #canadianrockies #sonyalpha
