Not because I'm blowing my own horn (which is fine as well) but because I've done the hard yards. I've done the work, I've learnt a lot, I 've gotten results and I have what it takes to do what you need.'⠀

Let’s talk declines! We all know they suck 😞. Nobody likes delivering bad news but declines don’t need to feel like the door is forever closed. ⠀
Here are five ways to decline #LikeABoss
▪️From the outset, treat the interview process as an exercise in relationship building. My view is we ought to be building real relationships with the talent community and THEN exploring if it is a match vs. treating the process as an assembly line. A well optimized process can coexist with one that feels genuine comfortable, and human.⠀
▪️ Pick up the phone ☎️. If someone had taken the time to interview with you, close the loop in a human way. This is not the time for an ATS autoresponder or worse, radio silence🙅🏻♀️.⠀
▪️Make it personal and human. Come from a place of empathy and genuinely thank them for getting to know your company. Share the decision but recognize what you gained from the interaction (“We loved learning about ...). In doing so, hopefully they too will reflect upon the opportunity as a learning experience. Not the outcome they had hoped for, but a positive interaction and experience nonetheless. ⠀
▪️Take time to understand their candidate journey. This is a great way to learn how to optimize the candidate experience and demonstrate that despite the outcome, your candidate matters and you care.⠀
▪️Invite them to apply again and stay in touch. Transform “no” into “not now”. People evolve and so do business needs. Close the process loop, not the door. 🚪l⠀
The golden rule applies here... treat others how you wish to be treated...your employer brand ( AND consumer brand) will thank you and so will your heart. ⠀

marketing conference and spending time learning. I’ve been looking for something like this for ages and it’s been so great. .
It’s super important to make time and budget in your biz to always be learning and putting yourself in new environments.
When was the last time you did something different for your learning? .
For years, I’ve worked as a lone wolf in employment branding. For many, it’s not a role people are familiar with and I found it necessary to explain it. For companies, it’s a position that’s considered a “nice to have” rather than a fundamental part of recruiting. It’s obscure and confusing. Mostly, it’s hard to see the impact you can make. Today, while up in Boston for my annual HR off-site, we announced our first ever “HR Rockstar” award. I thought that I never was in the running. That I wasn’t truly seen as part of HR in a traditional sense. That this award would surely go to one of the many deserving people in HR— one of the ones that have much more visibility than me. When they announced my name, I was shocked. To spend the next five minutes hearing my leaders talk about the contributions I made — ones my team voted for — made me feel so valued and appreciated. Working in a role alone, in a position that many people don’t understand can make you feel forgotten about. Today, I felt on top of the world and SEEN. Thank you to my amazing team at Carbon Black. You truly make this place a great place to work.

Klar, nicht jeder Mittelständler kann diese Umfelder schaffen – auch, weil sie Begehrlichkeiten bei bestehenden Mitarbeitern wecken.
Wer aber heute darauf angewiesen ist, diese “neuen” Zielgruppen zu rekrutieren, muss zumindest das Arbeitsumfeld mit in Betracht ziehen. Wollen Software-Entwickler bei mir arbeiten? Könnten meine Räumlichkeiten Big-Data-Spezialisten überhaupt gefallen?
