Despite his love of poetry, music and military matters - it is next to his dogs that Prussian King Frederick the Great is buried - in nearby Potsdam. In-fact he is frequently cited as the originator of the phrase that 'a dog is man's best friend'. Something that would perhaps be most apparent in his Potsdam residence - Sanssouci - where he would let his Italian greyhounds roam freely.
