:: beranjak, berubah :: . . Saya itu pemalas, terutama malas berolahraga. Padahal, hampir semua teman saya orang yang aktif bergerak dan suka berolahraga. Kalau dulu, seandainya pun mereka berhasil mengajak saya berolahraga, pasti saya yang paling lambat bergerak dan paling cepat selesai. Misalnya, sewaktu saya diajak berjalan kaki ke TMII (Taman Mini Indonesia Indah) yang dekat dengan rumah, maka sudah pasti sesampainya di sana saya segera duduk menikmati jajanan sedangkan teman saya masih berolahraga. . Demikian juga beberapa tahun terakhir ada teman yang giat berolah raga, saya nyaris bergeming. Sesekali mengikuti dia ke tempat olahraga, lalu saya tidak datang lagi. Namun sekitar sebulan terakhir ini, saya berusaha berubah. Salah satu caranya dengan mendaftarkan diri di tempat olahraga di komplek perumahan saya. Hal ini demi membuat saya merasa sayang apabila masih malas juga, apalagi uang pendaftaran sudah dibayarkan. . Sejauh ini sih saya hanya sesekali berenang, meski sebenarnya ada banyak kelas olahraga yang gratis. Selain itu, saya berusaha sesekali berjalan pagi di sekitar rumah, yah 1-2 KM lah sekali jalan dan beberapa kali ikut kelas muay thai (yang entah kapan bisa konsisten dijalani, hahaha). Itu saja sudah luar biasa, teman saya si penyuka olahraga pun sampai terharu. Intinya adalah mengusahakan perubahan itu sendiri. Dalam hal ini, demi hidup lebih sehat dan fit. I finished my long day with a nice 45 minute walk around my hood! Hahaha! It felt really good! When I got home I did my lymphatic self-massage for the first time and man did it feel good!!!!! My legs felt better immediately...especially the one that gives me trouble. Crossing my fingers that this helps long term. I will commit to doing it every single day for the rest of my life if I need to. Motivation to Exercise 101 Here’s a fun challenge to get everyone moving more. Aim for everyday but if not just move when you can. For the next month, every time you exercise for a half hour whether it is walking, biking, kayaking, swimming, dancing, working out, yoga, whatever just move and put a loonie into a jar. If you do 15 minutes put 50 cents in and so on. At the end of the month, treat yourself to something you want or need. It can be a new experience, a new nail polish colour, a movie, a new book. It depends on how much money you have in the jar. It could be anything. Something that makes you happy. A treat just for you! If it helps, actually write it down or put a picture of it on the jar. What will you exercise for?

Meet new Fit With Vin client - Amy, who has rather fascinating goals. . Amy is a lovely mother of 3 with ambitions of achieving a goal that is somewhat rare, actually this is the first time I have come across this goal from a client before. . Amy’s primary goal is: To not require the need for a heart transplant and to raise awareness for those living with heart conditions or ’silent assassins’ as Amy calls them. . Amy lives with a condition called Congenitally Corrected Transposition of The Great Vessels (ccGTA). . CCTGA is a rare congenital heart defect which affects less than 1% of people living with heart defects, so that’s around 10,000 people in America to give you an idea of scale. . First, a bit of heart anatomy . The heart has 4 chambers, the top two are known as atria/atrium and the bottom two are called ventricles and are responsible for pumping blood around the body. . The left ventricle is thick and muscular so it pumps to the whole body and is designed to last a lifetime, the right ventricle pumps blood to the lungs for oxygen and not designed to last as long. . So what is CCGTA? . In CCGTA, the heart twists during fetal development and the ventricles are reversed where the stronger left ventricle now pumps blood to the lungs and the weaker right ventricle pumps blood to the body. Common problems include the fainting and fatigue due to the inefficiency of the heart design itself. . So how to achieve the goal? . Research indicates that exercise and healthy lifestyle habits are very promising for those living with CCGTA, however extra precaution must be taken when exercising to not place undue stress on the heart and subsequently the body. So it will be a slow process with a lot of trial and error to find what works for Amy, however I am fully confident that Amy will achieve her goals as we go through this process together. . F.O.O.D . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . A year or so ago I started to acknowledge I wanted to eat healthier to improve my health. So with that I took meat out my diet. At first I still craved bacon & sausages 😂and for a while every often I wanted chicken curry. But after that, it faded and I got used to having just fish. Now I'm slowly edging towards less fish and more raw foods. I never thought I'd get here😂 with no sausage (if you know, then you know how I was) but I must say the results are great. I'd love to eventually be vegan BUT give it time😂. . . . . . . . . . Lesson: not everything good for you will be easy, but after beginning a new habit it will be worth it in the end. I think that's why I'm getting older but looking younger🙄 . . . . . . . . SUCCESS HABIT: EXERCISE @the_reawakened_athlete Hey what’s going on everyone? So, I’m sitting here right now in NYC in the lobby of my hotel and something occurred to me _ I am not going to be able to do something that I love more then anything in the world right now for almost an entire week _ What’s that thing? _ It’s exercise, or at least the exercise that I really enjoy. _ There is nothing I love more then the feeling you get right after a real good pump or a great sweat. _ I’m going to be travel and staying in one hotel after another and be constantly on the move so all the exercise that I am going to be able to get will either be through walking, or maybe some body weight stuff in my rooms. _ But the thing is if you are not exercising at all, that can be enough _ There is this new movement called exercise is medicine _ Exercise can cure or greatly reduce the chance of you getting almost every known disease. _ If you are not exercising at all even something as walking for 30 minutes can greatly reduce your chance to get cardiovascular disease. _ So go out there and start exercising _ P.s.
