Loads of luck and please look after yourself as it's going to be a hot one 🌞 and I assume your training has you more acclimatised to snow ☃️?! . Whatever you are up to this weekend look out for signs and symptoms of Heat Exhaustion and catch it before it develops into the more serious Heat Stroke: . 🌡headache 🌡thirsty 🌡excessive sweating . 🌡high temperature 🌡nausea 🌡muscle cramps 🌡lethargy If any of these then move to a cool place, drink plenty of water, lie down and cool with a fan and/or wet sponges around the armpits, neck and groin and should be back to normal within 30 minutes. Prevention is always better than cure so: 🔸️Aim to drink between 2 and 5 litres of water per day (more if another type of drink but avoid alcohol and caffeine), depending on your level of exercise. You marathon runners will need a lot more! 🔸️cool down with baths or showers / get the paddling pool out . . 🔸️wear light-coloured, loose clothing 🔸️sprinkle water over skin or clothes 🔸️avoid the sun between 11am and 3pm Keep a more careful eye on children, the elderly and people with chronic health conditions (e.g. diabetes or heart problems) as they are more prone to heat illnesses. Perhaps nothing is in more shortage in our modern day and age than #focus ! We are living amidst distraction almost all the time with our phones constantly going off with alerts, messages, and notifications unable to maintain short-term focus on our tasks at hand. Also many of us find it hard to maintain long-term focus on the important goals in our lives and tend to either give up after a while or change our #goals when the things get tough! The fact of the matter is that focus, both short-term and long-term, is the key to #success as well as #happiness in life. One way to increase your short-term focus is by putting your phone on silent mode and following up with messages and alerts that are not #business related at a later time. I personally avoid texting and chit chat on social media and messengers as much as possible to make sure I can focus on more productive tasks that require uninterrupted focus such as #working , conducting meetings or classes, #reading books, #exercising , etc! As for long-term focus the best solution is to commit yourself to a specific goal and never considering the possibility of failure or giving up no matter how difficult it gets or how tempting other plans might be simply because #committing to a #goal and staying with it until it is accomplished is always better than either changing your goals or simultaneously pursuing many different goals! Most people are not really focused so all you need to get ahead and #win is to remain focused in a world that is perpetually distracted!

Dip variations, adding in rotation and a high ab crunch to the humble tricep dip to get more core activation. This move really ups the difficulty especially when kept slow and controlled, perfect for hitting multiple muscle groups at once; hitting the chest, shoulders, triceps and abs/obliques all in one move. The difference between #2015 and #2018 , I have always had a #bigbehind but I am not kidding when I said my current came out of nowhere, I also sometimes just #shakemyhead when I catch a glimpse of it. Lifting is like breathing for me. I’m 💯 comfortable at the gym. And sometimes being so confident you forget to challenge yourself. At least I do occasionally. So I’ve changed up some of my routines and incorporated a lot of supersets. Hopefully I see some growth. But the tricep pump was all too real, bringing out my arm cellulite. And if you didn’t know that was a thing...well it is 😉 But a reminder not all people in the gym are comfortable in those 4 walls or even in their own skin. They’re there to improve so let’s cheer each other on instead of passing sneers and giggles. 🤝 #flexfriday

Posters like these have been put up around the stairwells at my office. Sounds like great advice right? Just take the stairs it burns more calories! BUT if you are deep into a diet and super low on energy this isn’t the best idea. 👣 Sure taking the stairs and adding in some extra steps burns more calories, but how many more? By taking the stairs instead of an elevator, let’s say you walk an additional minute. A 175lb man may burn about 10-15 more calories taking the steps. That’s a tiny amount. And if your already low on energy the probably isn’t worth the effort 👣 Instead conserve your energy for the gym. If you spend all day trying to add steps, you may end up too tired at the end of the day to make the gym. Or you make it but you’re low on energy and have a lesser workout. TAKEAWAY: adding steps burns more calories but don’t let that be your main focus. Prioritize where you spend your energy. I want to use my energy and focus on my job and my lifting sessions
