Cafe Lilou never lets me down, especially with their Ramadan menu. It’s gained a cult following in Bahrain and every year everyone waits to see what fusion dishes will be unveiled (and you’ll most likely see these dishes next year scattered around different restaurants in Bahrain lol). Trying it this year was no disappointment. I had the beef shawarma nachos, the Sambosa platter (square shaped sambosa which are adorable- don’t miss the jalapeño cheese and their trademark zaatar cheese), the nacho salad, the minced beef flatbread, and the Shish barak. Everything was great but be prepared to share! Portions are generous, almost to a fault. The nacho avocado salad was a little too heavy for me, so I’d get this on its own or a lighter salad next time. The Shish barak came in the perfect tangy yogurt sauce that had a pleasant undertone of garlic, and @cafelilou
shawarma nachos have been much emulated around Bahrain but never as successful. Don’t miss out on the Ramadan experience at @cafelilou
and don’t do like me and eat so much that you can’t possible have dessert.
