Definitely one of my favorite rides of my multi-country bikepacking trip so far: cycling the Mount Tsurugi Super Rindō (forest road) on the island of Shikoku in Japan.🇯🇵 While I can appreciate cities and the infrastructure they provide, the “magical moments” on any given bikepacking or touring adventure I have been on happen, for me, in remote, hard to access and, most often, mountainous areas. I have never done that much climbing in a single ride but with vast vistas of mountains and lush green valleys all around, going up and down on the gravel forest road and almost no other person in sight, it was well worth it. Being by myself, I feel most able to connect with nature and my environment fully, and it’s a great feeling and experience.
