My name is Matt and I’m the photographer behind The Van Project. You don’t see as much of me on here because I am usually the one holding the camera.
Today I’m excited to share that The Van Project was recently selected to be brand ambassadors for @explorelander , a rad company that designs travel gear like usb lights, batteries, phone charging cables, cases and bags.
What does this mean? Well, in addition to testing gear for Lander, you’ll occasionally see posts & stories where we’ll talk about our experience using Lander products (check our stories right now to see the AWESOME Moab phone case).
We have very high standards for the gear that we use so rest-assured that we’ll only post honest information about our experiences!
As a thank you to our awesome Insta network, feel free to use the discount code ‘Matthew25’ on the Lander website for 25% off anything you buy!

The lush damp forest around Portland was pretty darn nice. Standing beside the river, just listening to the water flow past is always an easy way to pass time with a calm clear mind. Camp fires always get me too, if no one moves or speaks I’ll stay watching that thing until it goes out 🔥 something mesmerizing about the simplicity // complexity of fire and water.. or maybe it’s just letting yourself be fully focused on one single task. Thanks @sarahmatler for helping me selfie x #mountainstones#pnwonderland
Really starting to look forward to our trip to Iceland in a few days, and after checking the forecast, having a waterproof backpack to carry my camera gear will be super important. Having a hard time filling all of the pockets on this @explorelander pack - it’s got PLENTY of space for everything from my passport to my laptop and camera. Can’t wait to put this thing to the test in a few days - I think it’s up for the challenge! #explorelander || @explorelander@thumbsupbirds@local_lab#iceland#stopmotionvideo

This weekend we headed out to Alabama Hills to camp and celebrate @marsfortson ’s birthday. This spot took us about an hour and a half to find. Pretty tucked away and secluded. Climbed on lots of rocks, took a lot of photos, hiked partially up Mt. Whitney, had @prinzchaz and @chelseaenglehart join us for a night, and a little sunburned. Successful weekend for sure.
“I’m gonna be the king... The Godfather of big mountain snowler blading. That’s what I’m going to do. I’m going so off, no one is ever gonna see what I’m gonna do. If I ever get outta here, I’m go. A make a come back man”
The Cairn lantern is by far my most used piece of gear! I know you may say it’s “oh, it’s just a lantern”... but it’s really so much more! Having the ability to charge my phone as well as cary something as portable and bright as this little light is incredible.
Thankful for this thing in roadside breakdowns!
Feeling like I have a lot to be thankful for lately. I recently became an ambassador for a really awesome gear company, @explorelander. if you’re anything like me and are always on the go, they make gear that creates a smooth transition between a traditional work week to weekend adventures. From waterproof bags with protective laptop pockets, phone cases meant to save your battery in warm and cold temps, lamps that not only light up your campsite but can also charge your phone, chargers made with reflective material so you’ll never lose it in dark. Their products are all really well thought out and I’m so happy I have to opportunity to test them out and even get you guys a discount on their gear if you’re digging it as much as I am (promo code “Mackenzie25”)
In one week from today I’ll be heading to Iceland and am so excited for everything that trip will entail. Keep an eye out for how Lander’s gear will be used on my trip!! #ExploreLander#getoutside#adventurer
What’s up everyone! For those of you who don’t know me, my name is Austin. I’m an adventure and lifestyle photographer based in the White Mountains of NH. I’m excited to announce that I am also an ambassador for @explorelander and will be blowing up your feed with some photos of their rad gear in action! This is some of the best gear I’ve ever had the pleasure of using and I’m stoked to put it to the test! Stay tuned! #thewildbunchphotography
I’m Lexi, one of @explorelander ’s newest gear ambassadors! I’m testing some new Lander gear today for my “real” job with @ifsafreeriders. We’ve got the North American Junior Freeride Championships at @snowbird , complete with rapidly dropping temps, howling winds, and a raging “frontal passage,” which I’m told may contain lightning. Perfect gear testing conditions. 👌

Looking forward to spending some time back in Melbourne with all my favourite people, including this one.
I’m so sure we’ve met in a past life @loungecat_ 🖤
I’ll be back in Melbourne tomorrow, hit me up if anyone wants to catch up or shoot!
Had a pretty magical time floating on a lake in these huts a few weeks ago. Being so secluded, away from any city, WiFi or internet access is pretty damn refreshing. Do you remember the last time you ‘logged off’ for more than one night? 🤔 think about it... if you visit Thailand sometime soon go visit this place in Khao Sok, you won’t regret it. #lostinthailand#mountainstones
On this #NationalPetDay , I’m thankful to have these two weirdos in my life. @julietthehusky and Rascal don’t get to come with us on a ton of trips, mostly because a lot of the national parks don’t allow dogs on any trails. But this weekend we’re headed somewhere that they can join us and hike on all the trails. Should be a great time!
I’m truly excited for what I’ll be creating soon. Is it wrong if I don’t know what it is yet?
