Hearing about Notre Dame was saddening, though I felt blessed to have walked through its magnificent halls just a couple months ago. And though I see it’s beauty, there were many other beautiful cathedrals in France alone. this is a picture from another one of my favorites in Lyon. I now see all the support but also resistance to this historic structure and how they plan to rebuild it. And though I acknowledge there is value in the preservation of history, I also wonder what could be done with that money to help the millions of people around the world that will never be impacted by the restoration of a cathedral in Europe when they struggle to survive day by day, or the other cultures that are experiencing tragedy in the form of losing historical structures that don’t receive as much funding that is been pledged. Neither option is inherently wrong or right, but we need to hold all these things in mind when we consider the outcome.

This is the largest tree in the world, a giant Sequoia named General Sherman (too bad all the trees in this park are named after only the patriarchy).
It is grounding to stand beneath something so old, so silent, so peaceful. To know it has survived as much, 2,500 years worth of life. Ours is just a tiny slice in comparison.
As above, so below. Sacred mirrors reflecting all the time. What you see tells you a lot about yourself.

It’s been soooo long but I’m going to try and be more consistent. Life can get crazy sometimes and that’s okay. In the meantime, I have so much backlogged content to share. This location is one of my favorites so far this year!

I tried working in an office for the last month (hence the lack of new stories), because I needed to get stuff done. Needless to say that stuff didn’t get done. If I have learned anything about myself in recent years, then that’s the revelation that my place is outdoors. And I don’t mean just recreational outdoors. A substantial part of my life needs to be outdoors, be it for fun or for work. I guess that’s what you get when you’re born in a city, raised in a city and then when you’re 35 realising it’s the wrong and unnatural way to live. So I’m back outdoors, working on my biggest video project to date that spans all regions of Latvia and all four seasons. Will be able to talk about it pretty soon. Oh, and this bedroom shot is not daylight. See the stars? That’s under the full Moon at midnight 🌕
Golden light filling the valley. Eagle River Nature Center. Taken about 1.5 weeks ago. I enjoyed taking every picture I took that afternoon. Spending the evening in nature, what could be better?
