I marinated the pork over 24 hours in soy, vinegar, sugar, sesame oil, hoisin sauce, five spice powder, fish sauce, shaoxing wine, and pepper ❤️ pan fry the pork until tenderly cooked, too with your favorite toppings and dressing! What’s your winter “hibernation dish”? ❤️😂

What a weekend! From trying the Holiday Buffet at The Walnut Room, to visiting Christkindlemarket, to brunch & seeing Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald in theaters, to the annual Magnificent Mile Lights Parade - this weekend was nothing short of fun, festive events. My favorite, however, was an early birthday celebration of afternoon tea at @thedrakechicago

This is the Steak Pobre: skirt steak, quail egg, chalaca, ponzu gel. I think of it as sushi for the red meat fans. The steak is tender and full of flavor and the rice has a bit of a char that adds not only texture, but an extra layer of flavor. It’s so delicious and different! Tanta is truly one of the more unique Peruvian restaurants in the city, located in River North, their menu is packed with incredible dishes. Make your reservation and ask the server what their favorite dishes are (that’s how I was turned on to this Pobre!)

It's already that time of year for our Roast Turkey on Cornbread Stuffing,Roasted Garlic Mashed Potatoes,Mess O'Greens and Cream Gravy or Turkey and Wild Mushroom Etouffee with Sweet Potato Polenta. We'll be serving these 2 beauties Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of this week.
We had a great time at the Martha Stewart Wine & Food experience presented by USA Today, with unlimited food tastings, fine wine, craft beer and spirit tastings, and access to demonstrations and seminars. There was a demonstration from the queen herself, Martha Stewart and a meet and greet with her for VIP ticket holders.
The event opened at 12:00 pm for VIP and at 1:00 pm for Grand Tasting ticket holders. The event ended at 4:00 pm, but we ended up leaving around 3:00 pm.
Prices ranged from $65.00 (Grand Tasting) for presale tickets up to $250.00 (which included a gift bag packed with Stewart swag and wine and a meet and greet with Stewart herself) (A meet-and-greet package with chef Graham Elliott was also available for $180). I must say that there was plenty of food and spirits (remember, these are tastings so portions are small), although a couple of the most popular food samples ran out as early as 2:30 pm. There were approximately 35 food venues and 12 liquor stations. The lines for food were not really that long, the longest time I waited was approximately 12 minutes for hand rolled sushi rolls from Sushi San, made right there in front of us. The drinks stations at first, had short lines, as the day progressed, the lines were considerably longer. There was even musical entertainment upstairs by Brett Wiscons.
All in all, it was a great way to sample food from local restaurants, and enjoy a drink and an afternoon with family or friends in one of the iconic locations in Chicago, Soldiers Field.
