Have you started baby-led weaning? Natalie Peall from The Baby-Led Weaning Cookbook has given us some great tips!
💕 If your baby is not eating much, continue to offer healthy, balanced meals and try not to let the uneaten food grind you down! 💕 Your baby is learning and having loads of fun, so persistance is worth it!
💕 It is ok to have off days, if they do not want to eat simply take away the food and try again at the next meal.
💕 Make notes so that you can jot down any new foods or meals your baby has enjoyed. 💕 It does get easier with time, especially when solids is the main focus after 12 months!

I don’t have time to cook 👩🏻🍳, I can’t cook, I don’t know how to cook, fast food is easier, ordering a takeaway is quicker....these are the types of statements I hear regularly in clinic when I suggest #healthyeating
options for #familymeals
🤭. I’m not judging because we are all products of our upbringing and lifestyles but that doesn’t mean we can’t change and create new habits! If you recognise yourself here then just humour me and try this... Pop a packet of raw turkey or chicken strips into a frying pan with a small amount of #coconutoil
if required. When it’s no longer pink, add in a packet of pre chopped #stirfryveggies
and pre cooked #ricenoodles
both of which you can pick up in the salad isle of any supermarket. Add some Himalayan salt and pepper, #lightsoysauce
(or even better #coconutaminos
) stir on a high heat and serve. Dinner in 5 minutes, healthy, filling, quick and easy, now that’s FAST FOOD! 😋❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️💚💚

Happy Wednesday folks.
Pinocchio loves Piri .. and this time, he’s not lying ...!
Loaded Potato w/broccoli + @applegate
ham + white cheese sauce. (Recipe for this basic sauce I am posting again below). ___________________
This dinner takes the same amount of time to prepare as a box of Mac n’ Cheese - and of course you can use this sauce for your Mac and Cheese! I boiled potatoes last night and steamed some frozen broccoli while making the sauce. Cut up the ham + that’s it!
Melt 1 Tbsp Butter in saucepan. Add 1 Tbsp flour and stir into paste. Add 1 Cup Milk, wait for Milk to boil. Lower heat to low and slowly add in 1/2 to 1 Cup of Cheese. Stir until melted.
Dinner tonight 🍽️: chickpeas burgers homemade by my mom with mujaddara - Lebanese rice and lentil dish and fried spinach 🌿🍚I love using 🍋 to flavour foods instead of salt. This with olive oil on the spinach 👌
Another day, another chicken sausage and hot dog dinner. I’ve been writing down my weekly menus for the last few weeks, and grilled sausages and hot dogs always seem to have a night. Sausage often gets a bad rap, but when topped with sautéed veggies (onion and red bell pepper pictured) or served alongside roasted veggies and fruit, all I can think is, “how easy AND tasty is this meal?!” See ya next week sausage! 😉.

When I want to be a fun mom, I serve waffles topped with ice cream and hot fudge for breakfast (or dinner)! My favorite Belgian waffle and homemade hot fudge recipes have been on the blog for a few years now, but I decided to republish the post with the new photos that @sadie__banks
took a couple of weeks ago. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I also shared a little bit about family meal time and why it's so important to me. Click through the link in my profile and you'll find the post at the top of my blog feed! P.S. I think I might try these waffles with peaches in a few months. Maybe the hot fudge sauce? Maybe a cinnamon sauce?
A little bit of magic on a plate for tonight dinner. This will definitely go in a family cookbook. .
1) Cook aubergine in the microwave on full power for 7 minutes.
2) In the meantime roughly chop tomatoes, or add whole if they are small into a frying pan with garlic, oil, thyme and basil, cook for a bit then add balsamic ( if you have saffron, then can add saffron soaked in a little bit of water instead of balsamic for extra flavour and more saucy tomatoes)
3) add quinoa to a pan of hot water, roughly 1 to 3 proportions and cook for 20 minutes.
4) when aubergine is ready, cut in half and fry a little skin side down to crisps up. .
For meat eaters: toss chunks of meat in miso paste, soya sauce and the juice of one lime and fry in the pan before frying the aubergines in the same pan in the remains of the sauce. .
Optional: adding pomegranate or walnuts for extra crunch and top with coriander. .

One of the many things my family has mastered is the art of cooking! *Thankfully*, I inherited the gene. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve realized how important it is to cook for yourself, especially as a single woman like myself 💁🏻♀️ Another thing they taught me is the importance of fellowship with the ones you love. And what better way to bring people into your home than food! Growing up, it was all about bringing family together- everyone was included. And everyone helped in the process of cooking it all (which has definitely helped me in the kitchen to this day). So today, I cooked salmon with white rice, fresh broccoli, and tomatoes straight from the garden! Fresh, organic foods make for the best meals! And let me tell you, it was as good as it looks!! ***Before you ask, I know tomatoes don’t really go with salmon, but I didn’t have any lemons and I needed some acidity. AND in the south, it’s a sin not to eat fresh tomatoes with every meal!... Just saying 🙃🍅 North Little Rock, AR •

One of my favourite and go to food prep is my Teriyaki Chicken. The marinade is so easy, crushed garlic, onion granules, chilli flakes, sesame oil, vegetable oil, honey and soya sauce. Mix them all together, pour it over the chicken (I like to use chicken thighs) and let it marinade for at least an hour (best overnight) Very little work but very high in flavour, win win!! xxx #mealprep #mealplan #easymeals #budgetfriendly #midweekmeals #busymama #familymeals #familyfavourite
This is legit saving me this week! My meals are at certain times, and I can't always get there or I need a quick option for a snack in the middle of a busy afternoon. It tastes like a treat, but is filled with protein, lower calories and low sugar. Totally winning! 🤩
Pulled pork bowl is on point. 👊
Keeping shredded meat in the fridge makes it easy to put together a quick lunch. My favorites are pulled pork, turkey, and shredded chicken.
Tuesday: A super easy 🍛 Lamb curry 🍛made even easier because I grabbed this one from the freezer #heresoneimadeearlier
🙌🏻 and just pimped up a bit with some fresh coriander and flaked toasted almonds 👌🏼..BUT if you would like to make this at home from scratch then here’s what you need to do:
• Start by dry frying some cumin seeds (1 tsp) then added a tsp each of the following: ground cumin, ground coriander, turmeric, garam masala, mild chilli powder, curry powder... ~
• Add a little oil then add your diced onion, 2 crushed garlic cloves, grated ginger (about 1 inch) and fry to soften the onion...
• Next add 1 tbsp tomato purée, 1 tin of chopped tomatoes and around 1 can of water...
• Then add some diced leftover cooked lamb, tin of chickpeas, 1/2 can of coconut milk and simmer for 15 mins...finally add some green beans and cook until tender... ~
• Then serve with some wholegrain rice and scatter with some fresh coriander and some flakes toasted almonds! DONE! 🌟 if you’re using raw meat then simply coat with a little flour and then brown after you’ve browned the onion...then you can add the liquids as per the steps above! Easy
I treated the kids to tea at David Lloyd after their last swimming lesson before the hols - they went for all the beige! Alf had macaroni cheese with baked beans and Maisie went for chicken goujons, chips and beans! 🙈😂😂....and totally cleaned their plates needless to say!
Hope you’ve all had a good day! Can’t believe the kids break up tomorrow! We had Maisie’s “moving on” assembly today! 😭....was so cute and crazy to think she’s now done with the infant school! juniors here we come!

Today at the grocery store Jules asked me, “mom when are we like gonna go back to being that healthy family on the #crumblycrew
all the time.” 🙈 Truth is this season of transition has been A LOT but I do know #wewillbeback
, eventually. Until then I’ve been perfecting the art of the 15 min dinner ❤️
I made this chicken last night and it turned out perfect ! Seasoned the organic chicken strips with everything seasoning from
( just right before I made them) and pan fried them in my @lodge
pan in grapeseed oil. Then deglazed the pan with with balsamic while the chicken was still cooking . Even though it wasn’t Mexican chicken we put this corn salsa on top and made spicy siracha roasted Brussel sprouts to go with it.
Yes you do need a cast iron pan bc everything tastes better with a lodge pan. Linked mine above (its not a prime deal but it’s cheap✌🏻). Corn salsa :
2 cups frozen corn
1/4 cup sweet onion chopped
1/4 cup red pepper chopped
4 tsp lime juice
All the cilantro
I’ll put my fav guac in my stories later , I hate my phone right now. .
I talk a lot about nutrition in my online bootcamps, because it’s always the part people struggle with the most. But if you want to lose weight and maintain your results, you HAVE to get nutrition under control. I LOVE working out, and it’s obviously important too, but it’s so easy to undo all your hard work if you don’t know how to eat right!
🛑If nutrition is your struggle too, GET INTO my bootcamp! Seriously - it’ll change how you think about food, and we’ll officially erase the word “diet” from your vocabulary. 😉 We eat all the food groups (including carbs and fats), we don’t count calories or points, and we still eat things we love (🍫🍷). Message me if you want to know how to get into the next one. 😊 I’ll give you all my meal planning and prep tips in the bootcamp, but in the meantime, here’s a delicious recipe from my current group that you can try!

I am so excited to share my second book baby, The Big Book Of Organic Toddler Food, a follow up to my best selling The Big Book Of Organic Baby Food. Toddlers love to dip! You would be surprised by the adventurous things they will try with a little “dip” on the side.
One more week of getting up and out of bed, of making lunches, of shouting instructions, facing the roller coaster of emotions, of hustling us out the house in a timely fashion, of listening to all the thoughts. One more week of concerts, meetings, card making, and plans. Then it's all four home for six whole weeks. Hang about, why the fuck am I in any sort of rush?
Miri is on one huge emotional roundabout. End of year, end of middle school, and realistically the end of most of her friendships because they are all going to the high school we didn't get in to.
Bert had his first session at school today, and came out pleased he didn't get told off. So that's a success.
Beebe is already home and driving me to distraction with her constant narrative, personal comments and anxities.
And Percy is just fabulous.
So there's that small port in a storm.
And I can't drink.
It's a huge land of not win...
But, on the upside I am happy.
And this Smoothie was loaded with berries, oranges, a banana and some hidden flax for that all important omega hit. .

Scrambled Eggs / Blueberries / MINI Everything Bagels w/cream cheese
Bagels are a once-in-a-while treat for us. There is no way our family of 3 goes through a whole bag! This is one item I def. recommend getting fresh from a bakery (we got these at the farmer’s market). You can pre-cut them and freeze them! A tip I learned from my days as a Seattle barista ;).
