Hay IG Fam! Happy Monday! Hope you’re week is off to a great start! Today’s post is dedicated to #motivationmonday 💪🏾🏋🏾‍♀️🤸🏾‍♂️Today’s workout is committed to legs. How many of you guys start your week off with a great leg routine? For myself legs is not an easy day. Due to sustaining injuries throughout the years I have to be very strategic how I train my lower limbs.....🤔🧐. I’ve learned that sometimes less is more, when to push harder, and when to dial it back just a bit....... All in all I’ve learned to listen to my body.😉👍🏾 Rule of thumb for me give each workout 💯 and always make each rep count.... all to often people go in to train and do a half ass workout.... don’t be that individual 👎🏾 Stay focused in your training and have a game plan when you walk through the front door of the gym! Welcome to mom life. • We are able to shift our mood with 3 simple steps. It’s call priming. We can prime our days to be successful and productive. • Usually when you’re in a poor mood it leads to bad decision and poor habits. AKA SELF SABOTAGE. I love when we are able to include all foods we love into our diets. I do not want that to be confused with trigger foods. Trigger foods are the foods that are like a drug. We aren’t able to control ourselves around them. Those we have to say goodbye to! • 2️⃣ Fitness is 10% of our journey!! I’ve always out the emphasis for fat loss on food. However we have to remember how little fitness does for our results on that scale. We can’t over estimate what we have “earned” in the gym to eat later. But you may have not truly understood why besides the fact that you get more bang for your buck⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ -⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Compound movements provide the ability to adjust certain variables that you can't with isolation movements that only train 1 joint. For example, with a squat, it is easier to do heavy sets below 8 reps because the load is distributed among multiple joints⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ -⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Also, you can manipulate total volume easier with compound movements. It is easier to progressively overload as well as work in phases. -⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I may have a strength block doing heavy, low volume bench press and another phase doing lighter, higher volume bench pressing. This periodization is useful for making long-term gains past the beginner stage⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ -⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Compound movements are even more functional because they mimic common movement patterns. I decided it was time for leg day 👍 I usually never used machines for legs unless it was a finisher, but since machines offer more stability and I really need to rebuild a base of strength they're perfect for me right now. 🔹️ 4 sets of 12 quad extensions 🔹️ 4 sets of 15, glute kickbacks 🔹️ 4 sets of 12, hamstring curls 🔹️ 4 sets of 15, adduction machine 🔹️ 4 sets of 15, abduction machine 🔹️ And for fun, I did 4 sets of 15 on the hack squat. I didn't add any weight, just worked with the 110lb base, but it felt good. 🔹️ All of this wrapped up by 30min of the treadmill with 2min walk, 1min run. 🔹️🔹️🔹️ It was nice to feel my legs are still pretty strong. My legs are my pride and joy, but they are also one of the spots I gain fat the fastest. I can't wait to have the popping quads I used to have! Okay... today was REALLY fun! Some different angles of my lifts for your viewing pleasure. Clean + FS + jerk, 6 singles @ 85%(125#), last set is the first video. Snatches, 5 singles @ 88%(105#) and the last video is a 95%(140#) front squat going up pretty easy! I have been using the cues "knees back" and "scoop under the bar" and I feel like they've been helping quite a bit. Form has gotten so much better since I changed coaches!
