When I can't control the world around me: the sad things I see/feel, the mean things I hear, the busyness threatening to create a whirlwind that temporarily blinds me from what's truly important... I can control my body and how I work through those feelings.
My workout today was 10 minutes long (and I chose to do it twice), still finishing in less time than it takes to cook or eat a meal, take a shower (for some 😉), drive to the gym, wrap a few Christmas presents...you get the picture. Saying you don't have time isn't a truth for you anymore. It's not serving you and it's not getting you closer to feeling your best, being you best, and it isn't helping you grow or have control over your life. So DROP IT! You can literally choose to change your truth at any moment.
Stop telling yourself you have to spend hours in the gym, run till your legs fall off, and eat only salads till you turn into a tomato. Stop letting extremes and quick fixes lure you away from what you know to be true and maintainable. And for goodness sake, stop believing the lies you tell yourself that there's any reason you can't change your life and your truths..because you CAN! I opened 30 spots in my next group for people who truly wanted to change their lives.. there's only 10 left and they're going fast, which rocks my 🌍 because it means some STRONG ladies are taking control of their health, realizing how important it is to fill their cup first, and are taking ACTION (some for the first time ever!) to get there!! There's a massive movement taking place right now of women supporting each other and digging deep to discover a strength they didn't know they had and make changes they didn't know they were capable of- ready to join us?? 🙋♀️👇
You can either spend your life worrying about what other people are going to think or you can go out there and show them what you are all about.

So, I need to brag for a second.
My hubby knows there’s a new program I want to try. And it includes a step. (And no, it is not like old school step aerobics!) So he BUILT me a step. How frickin’ awesome is he? I took 15 minutes to try the live workout that is posted and man, it works! I’ve done the workout with and without the step now and both are definitely challenging. But I am super excited for my homemade step! Needs a few tweaks...little more sanding on the bottom and some tread on the top to keep my hands from sliding.
The. I read today that there are prep workouts available today! Shit, I’m behind on getting this done as I haven’t gotten the program for myself! You can bet what I’ll be doing ASAP. 20 minutes a day means some great cardio to have on hand. Takes the excuses out, don’t you think?

I got less than 5 hours of sleep last night. 😪 Yup.
Thankfully, my body is used to the energy rush I get from a good workout, so I didn't have much problem getting up and getting it done before work. 🏋️♀️ That would NOT have been the case a little over a year ago. Switching from nighttime to morning workouts was an IMPOSSIBLE idea to me.🙎♀️ I was convinced it would never work.🙅♀️ And yet, somehow that first try went okay, and so I kept trying. And before I knew it, my morning workout momentum was rolling🏃♀️, and there was no going back!
Where there is a will, there is a way. Your WHY is your driving force. Simply wanting to fit into a certain jean size is not enough. 👵🧓Wanting to be around for the next 50 years to see your kids and grandkids grow up...
☠Wanting to fight disease and disability without scary medications...
⚡🌀Wanting the energy to get through your afternoon without being desperate for a huge coffee...

It doesn’t get easier you get stronger. There are no truer words.
Life has a funny way of presenting us with similar situations and challenges. It might be in your physical training, your rehab, your relationships or your work. As human’s as we evolve the situations don’t get any easier but our ability to handle them does, as we build resilience, strength and confidence.
It can feel like a dance of 2 steps forward and 1 step back. Often asking oneself haven’t we been here before? Well that’s how it often felt to me as I underwent 5 reconstructive surgical procedures from September 2016 to January 2018 to rebuild my body after breast cancer. I remember training to get strong so I could bounce back from surgery, but I also remember the weakness I felt following the surgery. I am so thankful that my body and mind are strong and resilient and have carried me through each of these challenges, and that each time the recovery process seemed shorter.
Recovery and rebuilding doesn’t end there….
I have taken on new challenges to be as fit, strong, flexible and resilient as I can possibly be. The mastery of these is ongoing!
Creating consistency in habits, overcoming obstacles, barriers and fears are always part of growth. I am still on a journey, I haven’t yet arrived at the destination …I am not sure that we ever do ….what I do know is that we evolve and we grow as we face new challenges and / or life presents us with different experiences. What we do master is our resilience and strength, our ability learn and grow and to take on new projects, experiments and experiences whatever they might be.

Have you ever wondered why you're here? What the reason for your existence is or purpose? I wrestled with this for a long, long time - long hours, living for vacation }+ feeling like It was Groundhog Day and feeling frustrated at the thought that ths could be my life forever. I knew I was meant for more than the hamster wheel but I didn't know how to get out or how to make a bigger impact in the world. I've learned to follow my heart A LOT more - our hearts reflect our dreams and passions. Figuring out how to find the potential in ourselves so that we can live lives of purpose and meaning is the key. Understanding that it's a constant process gives me the most contentment and satisfaction. Even if you're only taking baby steps each day towards fulfilling your purpose, you're on the right track. Just keep going.

I've been struggling to share the last couple of days. Because you know, we all want to put our best face forward. We want everyone to be wowed. And maybe I've set the standard for myself too high in always looking like I'm crushing it.
Guys, that is SO far from the truth. I took 2 weeks between weight training my arms and shoulders. And when I came back to those areas, it was a humbling experience. My weights couldn't hold up. I had to keep dropping lower. I was fighting just to get a few more reps in. 🌠
But I finished out every set and every rep. I didn't skip, I didn't cheat myself. And that's how I will keep approaching this life. Fighting for the finish. Never giving up. Even when it LOOKS like giving up, but really it's just finding another route to the same goal.
I need others alongside me who'll do the same. Because we can't go this alone. Sometimes, every day is a struggle, and sometimes we're flying so high that life is breezing on by like a dream. On the days we're struggling, we need the ones flying to help pull us along. And when we're the ones flying, we need to lend our strength to pull our friends through their struggles. 🌠
Together we'll keep moving forward. Crawling or flying, we'll get there. 💗

This exercise really challenges our proprioception - knowing where our bodies are in space which is critical for the control and execution of this movement.
Here are a few pointers (if you can hear/focus over Lexi in the background sorry🤦🏼♀️) to focus on, in your next Barrefigure class
Forearms distance away from barre, knees directly over the heels, shoulders over the hips, curve the spine, pull abs in and lengthen tailbone under, chin tucked, shoulders down and lengthen back of neck, pull barre towards you and pull the shoulder blades down the back. Thighs horizontal with the floor and push down through the heels.
A BIG MISTAKE WE OFTEN SEE is the knees pushing forward (or backwards). This takes the pressure into our knees (not good) and the work away from our thighs and hamstrings and glutes. THE SHINS SHOULD STAY ABSOLUTELY STILL and vertical with the wall in front of you! this week has made me feel like i was on mr. toads wild ride. ya know that disneyland ride where it’s dark and his life’s just goin down hill, one thing after another, but then he sees the light at the end of the tunnel and gets a happy ending?
i’m finding my light at the end of the tunnel, and in doing so here are something’s i’ve learned:
1. pain is inevitable, but suffering is not
2. it’s okay to be in your feels, but don’t let them consume you
3. your friends will always have your back
4. sometimes dance parties for one and pizza is what you need
is still my favorite poet and her words are soothing for the broken hearted
6. kitty cuddles make everything better
i kept reminding myself 2 things this week as well: i may not be okay right now but i will be & it’s a bad day not a bad life.
although life’s been one wild ride lately, i know it’ll only help me grow into a stronger and better person. i’m thankful for this hurting period because without it i would not become who i’m meant to me. life goes on, and it does get better. even if it feels like the end of the world 🖤

Yesterday’s workout? Meh.
Today kicked a$$! 🤩
I got in my lifting (because I’m kinda addicted to weights 🏋🏼♀️) but then?? I tried part of the new Shaun T workout launching for early access in January.
Talk about fun! 🥳 I don’t have the step (the only equipment you can choose to have) and it was only 15 minutes long, but it was total body and I 💦! Then I think “only” when I remember that even when the program launches, the workouts are “only” 20 minutes. It’ll be a great option that is quick and to the point! Talk about excuse-breaker! And @shaunt
is one of the most motivational and passionate speakers during his workouts to keep you moving and trying your best.

The sun is shining…..finally some warm weather 39°C here in Adelaide today. It’s a great opportunity to get outside and bask in the sun ….grab some vitamin D and breathe.
Take 5 or 10 minutes out of your busy day to stop and breathe.
Take your shoes off and feel the grass between your toes.
Head to the beach for a glorious swim in the ocean.

I've learned that I'm not above it, and so I embrace the beautiful darkness. ...

Look. I've been exercising consistently every week for the last 18 months. So I consider myself to be in pretty damn good shape.
But I tried something ENTIRELY different this morning, and let me tell you, it was freaking hard!! I was so out of breath. Pushups got modified FAST. My lungs and quads burned 🔥🔥🔥!! So when you see me working out, don't assume it's easy just because I've been at it for a while. It's never easy. But it's worth doing, so I do it.

It’s been awhile since I posted right away in the AM. As I sit here after a mediocre workout feeling tired and draggy, due to lack of sleep, I thought about how far I’ve come.
Workouts are no longer “work”. It is a daily habit, like brushing teeth or eating. It’s my norm. But it takes awhile to create a daily habit and it will be work when you are just starting out.
But if you stay where you are, just watching others and wishing you could/would do that....nothing will happen. You won’t know if it could work for you, if you are capable of so much more. You have to commit daily to creating healthy, sustainable choices, not just expect it to happen for you. I can’t tell you exactly what to do; I can guide you or post some daily motivation, message you, cheer you on. But YOU are it; you are the change. It’s not easy, but once you hit that point where you feel better about yourself, your strength, your energy, your power?
Man, that shit is addicting! 👍🏼💪🏼🤩
