Yes I was up and at it at 3:30 am! Dedicated 37 minutes to LIIFT4 Week 3 Day 2 Back/Biceps-Circuit! It was a hot sweaty and tough workout. My arms and chest muscles are sore from Monday’s fitness! Continued the day by teaching middle school science all day! Was supposed to get basketball practice in but had to skip it! My kids needed mom home tonight, so it was home after school pick-up, do laundry, fix dinner, pack lunches for tmrw, brush teeth, read books, wrestle the 5 year old and then tuck in bed with lots of goodnights! Now I have to finish packing backpacks, Lay out clothes and grade 125 essay/short answer response exams! Got to live my crazy busy life! Here in the news recently... Plans to feed the population of the world which is set to get to 10 billion globally by 2050. One tactic was to decrease meat consumption. Down to 1 egg per day maximum and a small portion of red meat per week. Aiming to get our nutrients from plant based alternatives as much as possible. Now I don't know about you but that would be a huge challenge for me as I'm a bit of a carnivore. But as I coach, better to go for steady small steps to make those changes... And I found a handy infographic from @fitnesschef_ That will help us make that transition in time 😉 And also for the present time give us some protein rich plant based examples, for those needing some good examples or already trying to decrease their consumption. Plant based proteins can be combined to make complete proteins, but don't ask me which ones from here! Today was that day for me. I am on the road, out of town and experiencing full blown catastrophic system failure. -missing gear -Hotel under construction -I don’t know the area -Gym is deconstructed -GPS down -headphones broken - heart rate monitor, no longer monitoring heart rate. plenty of excuses today. - My critic whispers. • Definitely a justification for taking the day off, right? * I mean you do need to rest that knee. * I mean you are a little sore. * I mean anyone of these is good enough reason to quit, isn’t it? ————————————— Then I had a memory. A flashback if you will. To a time Long ago when I worked on an ambulance. - We were transporting a patient in critical condition. The patient was strapped to the gurney in the back of our ambulance, lights and sirens blaring. We had him hooked up to monitors, oxygen and pulse sensors. We plugged in two IVs running fullbore as we ran stop lights and drive head on into on coming traffic. No time? Really? . Far too many people I speak to tell me " I just don't have the time " to exercise or eat properly! . Really? Even as you read this you know that this isn't true. Tuesday Afternoon Things: Low Carb Day Afternoon Smoothie. I pretty much drink a smoothie every.single.day!! It’s the perfect way to cram in lots of varied nutrients while being quick and so delicious!! 😋 Today’s smoothie consisted of only 5 ingredients: 1 C organic almond milk, 1 scoop Chocolate Coconut Primal Kitchen Collagen Fuel, 3/4 C Trader Joe’s frozen organic mixed berries, 2 Tbsp organic peanut butter, and ice. That’s it!!!! On the FWTFL Low Carb days, I consume no more than 50 g net carbs. Carbs-fiber=net carbs. This is another example from my life where I took things to extremes and for a time it unraveled me! - I'll be totally honest I didn't really think that you could train too much I certainly hadn't realised that it could turn into such a negative thing but it did for me for a time. I was training out of fear, every day I would get up stand in front of the mirror, I would pull, prod huff and puff screw my face up at what was looking back. The thought process would then go like this... ok well get yourself to the gym today then tomorrow you’ll be happy, this is the gym session that will mean tomorrow morning you get up and you’ll look and feel differently about yourself. - The longer this continued the more my relationship with my training and me deteriorated. - I began to dread it but couldn’t not do it, because in my mind bad things would happen. - I’m not even sure I can describe to you how bad I felt. - I was living with a constant state of mind fog, exhaustion and a very loud and abusive negative rapport happening in my head reminding me of all the things I didn’t like about myself and spurring me on to just keep going or I would be a total failure who was going to gain a tonne of fat over night and would be judged by the world for it. - Writing this is crazy because I can’t believe that was me and can’t believe I ended up turning something which was supposed to make me feel better into essentially hell. - One day I sat in the gym looking in a mirror. - I tried to picture myself in a years time and I asked myself did I want to be in the same place, living this life feeling like this? - It was at this point I knew things had to change I could not and did not want to carry on like this, from that day onwards I worked on getting me to where I am now which is someone who trains to get strong and feel good not feel weak and like shit! - It wasn’t easy it was a process that involved a lot of re wiring but I got there I found my balance with training and nutrition and hell it's liberating! - If this is you right now you need to ask is this how you want your future self to feel. If not you must take action ❤

Here are my #fitbit stats for the past week. I haven't posted these since the middle of December because I went on vacation and caught the flu (yes, while on vacation)! ⠀ ⠀ The last time I posted I walked up 30 floors for the week and after that I set a goal of getting 10 each day. I averaged more than 20/day last week! ⠀ ⠀ I finally got back over #100000steps for a week and almost hit 600 active minutes. || Cold Temps & B F F ‘s || ••• NY got hit with snow, ice, wind and below 0 temps, but we didn’t let it stop us from having a great weekend in NYC. We laughed, we drank, we ate, and laughed, drank and ate some more! • 🍝Serra Alpina on the Roof at @eatalyflatiron was amazing, and we literally tried half of the menu. The tortiglioni pasta with sweet Italian sausage and black truffles was to die for, as were the Brussels sprouts and #kingstonny own Alewife Farms’ honeynut squash {A M A Z I N G}. I think Eataly may even have the best coffee in NYC too! • 🎭The @carole_king musical, Beautiful, was well, beautiful! Amazing singing, dancing and acting by @beautifulthemusical and the best show to go and see with some of your best girl friends. What I was reminded of this weekend, was that no matter the circumstances life throws your way, it is always easier surrounded by true and genuine friends. The kind of friends you can cry with, laugh with, explore with. The kind of friends that you don’t have to see every day, but are still able to pick up right where you left off. Surrounding myself with people who lift me up has been key over the last three years. Pay attention to the way your circle makes you feel, you should be able to walk away feeling inspired, thankful and with a sense of peace. • 🏋🏻‍♀️28 weeks post ACL surgery, and overall my knee is feeling great. The bitter cold temps definitely aren’t great for it, but I did a lot of stretching and just kept moving. Working on my squat jumps {getting better each day, @rileywilliamsmd }, and thanks to the @hamptoninntimessqcentral got in a quick workout before heading back to the even colder temps in the Hudson Valley { 30 minute circuit workout posted in the comments }. Great for when you’re short on time and just want to get your body moving. • ❄️Stay warm, everyone!!
