Every time I see Layouts or Deck Squats on the WOD I think dang I wish I could do those without a counter weight. Today I must’ve said it out loud because as soon as I did, I had suggestions coming from every corner of the gym and GUESS WHAT?! I did my first deck squat without a counter weight...3 different ways. 💪🏼 (cross legged, wide legged, & then “throwing a soccer ball” over my head)
After Fit Body I decided to try yoga for the first time in over 10 years... there was a point where she said “lift up and hold /if you can/“ I thought to myself “hell no I can’t, I haven’t moved like this in forever.” Then I watched the woman in front of me do it, I tried it, and I freaking DID it!!!! With ease.
Language is so important. How you talk to yourself is SO IMPORTANT! Had I not spoke out loud at Fit Body today, I wouldn’t have tried the deck squat without the counter weight. If that woman in front of me wouldn’t have lifted herself up during yoga, I probably wouldn’t have tried that today, & I’m so glad I did!! •
Every time I think I can’t, I’m putting it on my plan list, whether it’s something I can’t necessarily nail today but can work towards, or something I can /try/. •
So far on that list...
• Having no fear of taking videos of myself at the gym to track progress 😂 (sorry for the zoomed in bedroom version) • Pistol squats
• Running a 5k • Doing a handstand* • *upon completing handstand, doing a handstand push up • Completing a pull up •
