The last time I touch a barbell until I compete on Saturday!
I closed my eyes today and imagined I was on the platform and just the thought of competing made my heart race and sink to my toes at the same time. Although I live of life no regrets a part of me wishes I competed sooner but another part is thankful I did when I did. The rush I get on the platform is like that feeling you get in middle school when your crush talks to you- extremely and utterly amped but crushingly nervous at the same time.
I don’t do this for winning (it’s a major perk and I’m very competitive) but lifting and fitness gave me life and joy. I blossomed as a person when I started to really believe I was strong. I grew up skinny and I was physically and mentally weak (some made that very clear to me). But when I started going to the gym in high school I felt like I found myself. Something that was missing and everything about it just fit. I’m not one of those I don’t study and ace tests type of person. I feel like compared to everyone else I’m always working twice as hard and still behind. But not with lifting it just made sense and it worked. Even if I never competed that feeling would still be the same competing is an added bonus but I’ve found my happy place!

I am so blessed to see another year and to be surrounded by those I love. Even though I hit a few bumps this past year I am thankful for it all,the highs,the lows,and everything in between. I want to continue to work harder,expierence new things,travel more,and exceed some of my goals. It hit me tonight while celebrating out to dinner with family that I am not where I want to be in life and that right there at that moment gave me the motivation I need.
