The pike stretch ๐Ÿ‘† is one of the best out there for your hamstrings and lower back (two muscle groups highly prone to tigntness). I have practiced this stretch religiously for many years and I can confidently say it's done wonders for my body. ๐Ÿ˜Š It was one of Bruce Lee's favourite stretches too! ๐Ÿ’ช Two tips I would give for this stretch; 1) ensure that as you direct your upper body towards your legs, your legs stay completely locked out so that the hamstrings are able to be maximally lengthened. Bending your legs is cheating! ๐Ÿ˜‚ If you can't go all the way to your legs, that's cool. Just go as far as you possibly can until you feel the hamstrings fully stretched. Once there, hold it for 30s or so and repeat this for sets. Over time, your range of motion will improve (I promise!). Lastly; 2) Do it often. Like the cliche phrase says; Practice, practice and...you guessed it...more practice does make perfect. There's something truly magical about flexibility. I can't quite find the right words to describe it but I have no doubt many of you will know exactly what I mean. Why the hell I have not posted about fitness or anything related lately !? (If you give a damn) - The thruth, i've been bulking and gained weight in the past two- three months, I don't look lean anymore. - College has been extremely taxing so most I can be at the gym is 1 hr-40 mins max, (I feel ya my youth. ) - Been prioritizing and learning other things to be quite honest. Also trying to improve photography/videography skills. Finally, I said I would post a daily picture but this was fair from being realistic, because quality over quantity. -

A quick little transformation to capture how much I have and/or havenโ€™t changed over the past few years. Itโ€™s funny because looking at where I am now (the photo on the right) versus where I was 2 years ago, the pictures seem fairly comparable. But itโ€™s what you canโ€™t see that has made me so much different. I have struggled with bouts of not eating, of overeating, and my weight has gone up and down accordingly all due to myself being overly critical of my body. I struggle most with balance and with burning out, which is what I want to address within myself by posting on this page. I have tried to adapt an all fitness, all clean eating mindset before and did not realize it was too late until I lost 10 pounds and any butt and boobs I had before ๐Ÿ™ˆ. And then did a 180 and decided that maybe loving my body meant partying and eating whatever I wanted and that I would never achieve a point where I was consistently proud or happy with what I looked like. I am finally in a much more healthy place but thatโ€™s not to say that Iโ€™m not constantly learning and working on how to moderate everything in my life in a healthy and non-extreme way. And even though these two pictures look fairly similar, 2016 me was in an entirely different headspace. So just a little reminder that you are constantly growing in ways that you might not realize right now๐Ÿค—๐Ÿค—๐Ÿค—

Some days freedom is me packing up my laptop and taking work to a new destination like Mexico, or Disneyland.... other days itโ€™s me working from my phone from the bathroom floor as I try to nurse a kitty via bottle while hunting for her mom (aka today). โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ € Both days Iโ€™m equally as grateful because that freedom is NOT something I always had! Itโ€™s something I had to work for! But I promise you, if I could make time for it then so can you because when I started coaching I was a full time college student teaching high school full time and commuting two hours a day. I don't know, y'all. I don't know. I have no idea how this weekend's race is gonna go for me. I got in 4 miles today to test things out again post-back spasm and while the spasm is definitely gone and I don't have pain, I have soreness and tightness in all sorts of strange places. I don't know how I feel about that run. It was great to run, I felt fine in terms of pain and overall pretty comfortable but then again I got some weird stomach cramps (eventhough I'm definitely hydrated) and there was even a point I could've sworn my legs weren't even a part of my body and I felt like I was going to lose control and fly off the treadmill. It's like my mind is ready and my body is willing but I just can't get the two to connect. It was a strange workout, but I got in 4 miles without the spasm flaring back up. So, I guess that's it.
