Did you know there was an actual technique to foam rolling? Foam rolling has great benefits and can be done before and/or after workouts. When foam rolling make sure to slowly roll up & down the section and then pause for 5-10 seconds on the sore areas for a total of 60 seconds for that section. Repeat sequence 🧘🏽‍♀️ Make sure to only roll over muscle tissue. Happy rolling 😁

#10yearchallenge Meet the original size 0....and I don't mean that as a compliment to myself👎👎 I may have been about 12kgs lighter than I am right now, but I was nowhere close to fit. I had barely any stamina, I always looked and felt dull and tired. I was diagnosed with anemia and hypothyroid disorder. And in my early 20s, I was already taking 6-8 pills a day. . Cut to today, 30+, mom of 1. I overcame the anemia, though I still battle with hypothyroidism every day. Yet I feel stronger and fitter than I have ever felt in my life 💪💪 I avoid pills by taking care of my nutrition and I work out at least thrice a week. . Fitness isn't always about losing inches and kilos. It can't always be measured in numbers. Sometimes it's about how energized you feel when you wake up in the morning. And at the end of a long, tiring day, when I still have enough energy to keep up with my toddler, I know that this is much more important than any measuring tape or weighing scale. . Because our lives tend to quickly get buried in work, running kids around to after school activities, jobs here and there, and whatever else may be on your to-do list - we may be short on time. And, if we only have 30 minutes and a weekend to chill out, working out might not be our priority. BUT Sunday’s are actually the perfect time to get your 30 mins of exercise nailed! This should NOT be a chore but actually a blessing and some time to take for yourself. Whether it’s 10 minutes, 30 minutes, at home or running down the sidelines of your children’s football/ hockey etc game it’s something and ALL movement counts. Is it BAD to eat carbs at night? Having carbs at night will make you fat?? Follow @myhealthbuddy and @fitmomsfitterhomes for fitness and health updates ------------------------------------------------------------- The answer is “NO”, as long as you are in calorie deficit... which means we are burning more calories than we are consuming... means our calorie intake is somewhere between our BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate) and TDEE (total daily energy expenditure) The first thing people do when they plan to lose weight is, stop having dinner, or stop having carbs in the dinner.. this might work for them as that might put them in calorie deficit, but then its a correlation and not causation. We have all grown up believing that eating after 6-7pm makes us fat.. or eating carbs at night makes us fat.. or eating rice at night makes us fat... but the good news is science says it’s not true. (Link to one such research article is below) So, the issues occurs when we go overboard on calories (specially carbs at dinner), and we don’t realize that we have taken more calories than we have burnt on that day. Some people (like me) tend to overeat at night... most of us come stressed after work, sitting in front of the TV.. and then when we see nice food at dinner and then we tend to overeat... remember most of us take food as a source of pleasure (rather then source of energy).. and that sometimes becomes problem. So.. if you can control those cravings for calorie dense foods at night, you can safely have carbs at night. If not, then avoid. It’s purely your choice, whatever works for you, whatever is sustainable. Some tips : 1. carbs at night can help you sleep better if you have some issues with your sleep, try saving your carbs quota for the dinner. 2. Best timing to take carbs is before workout (to fuel your workouts) or after workout ( to replenish your glycogen levels, we are more sensitive to carbs after workouts). . I’ve realized that there are many things to have in mind before starting a workout routine. Who would have thought that simple little tips could make our workout a lot better! I’ve made several rookie mistakes that I want YOU to avoid! ⁣ ⁣ One of those is?? ⁣ ⁣ You guessed it!! ⁣ ⁣ DO NOT wear jewelry while working out! ⁣ ⁣ In my case, I forgot to take off my bracelet and it was bothering me so much when I had to plank or just when placing the palm of my hands on the floor. Not to mention the marks it left behind, OUCH!! ⁣ ⁣ There are places where they sell jewelry tailored to fitness fanatics but I personally wouldn’t buy any.⁣ ⁣ Do you wear jewelry when working out? If you do, how do you manage when it gets on the way?
