↕️ MOTIVATION IS A TWO WAY STREET!!! ↕️ I have always looked for something to motivate me. Whether it be some sort of competition, signing up for a race, a beach holiday to feel comfortable in a bikini, a celebration, a photo shoot with the ever so talented ajkphotography1. We all have our own different motivational tools and techniques to help push us through to our goals. The key is to find what works best for you personally. But HONESTLY , I am more motivated now, by all of our amazing members than I have ever been. 💖 Whether it’s the guy who sat in his car outside the studio wanting to come in, but couldn't find the courage, yet he showed up again the very next day and managed to not only make it through the doors, but is now a member who has a harder time taking a day off, than he does stepping back into the studio each day. 😊 Or how about our 66 year old member who's goal is to stay healthy and be able to keep up to her grandchildren. Not even the chin-up bars can scare her away! 🙌 She gets through every single exercise in every single workout, with a huge smile on her face the entire time. Or how about the woman who battles with anxiety, yet transits to our studio each and every day to push through each workout with a vengeance! 🏋️♀️ I absolutely love all of the power couples that we have in our studio, who motivate and push each other through inside and out of the studio. 💑 These are real people. And these are the people I look up to. Those are my goals. You are all are my motivation, and I want to thank you ❤️ I am so proud of each and every single person who steps through our doors, making a conscious decision that they need to make a change to live a healthier lifestyle, even if it completely pushes them out of their comfort zone. Nothing like a little holiday rant to start the day! Ok I’ll save the rant and simply share a kind reminder. You DON’T have to earn or burn off your meal by exercising!!! In fact the body really doesn’t work that way so save yourself the guilt filled sweat fest.
This is my pet peeve in my lovely fitness industry, especially this time of year. All the infographics showing how many burpees you have to do to “earn” your pumpkin pie. A healthy motivation to exercise right?🙄
Ok a mini rant but I’ll just say exercise for all the reasons that have nothing to do with food guilt, shame or compensation for enjoying treats you may not normally eat. If you want to enjoy a day or two on the sofa with family, DO IT! If you want to move your body this week, make sure it’s bc:
➡️It keeps you sane around all the family gatherings (me!).
➡️It’s simply part of your routine you look forward to, not dread.
➡️It’s a family filled event! Yay turkey trots or post-feast family walks.
➡️It adds to your health and wellness in a positive way.
Obviously I’m not saying turn into a couch potato this season but a few days doesn’t make or break your health. Fitness should be a positive addition to your life, not a negative. Find that balance that leaves you feeling good physically and mentally. Bc life is too short for crying over pumpkin pie. #healthybalance
1/5 of all females says that what is stopping them from achieving their health and fitness goals is a lack of motivation.
In this video, we explore what motivation is and discover that there are two types of motivation, extrinsic and intrinsic.
The origin of the word Motivation comes from Latin 'motivus', which means a movement or action.
It is about what makes you move or why you do what you do.
When we are motivated to do something it means that we are willing to initiate action and action is a movement.
The Anglo-Saxon word is 'drive', which means an urge to move/act or achieve something. The drive within ourselves is the initiator of action.
Motivation can be either positive or negative. One can be motivated to achieve a goal or avoid a certain outcome.
Intrinsic motivation is preferable for long-term goals. If one wants to learn a skill that requires lots of time and dedication to master it, it is better if the motivation comes from within, from an inspiration so strong that the person will go through the process of learning without expecting an external reward.
Extrinsic motivation can work very well short-term when one will endure doing something not as personally rewarding in exchange for an external reward that pays for the time and energy spent.
In reality, motivation is complex and can include both extrinsic and intrinsic factors.
In the next video, I am going to share with you how to overcome the suffering from a lack of motivation.
People, for instance, want to implement nutrition habits but what stops from making a long-term progress is a lack of motivation.
By understanding what motivation is and how it works we can activate our ability to be motivated by focusing on what is important for us.

Tudo pegou (doía), todo minuto eu queria parar e voltar pra casa, porém lembrei o porquê eu estava ali, o quanto treinar me deixa feliz, mais calma e ajuda muito na minha ansiedade. É terminei cada série bem 🙏🏋️♀️.
🧡 Muitos de vocês me perguntam como consigo ser tão focada, mas a verdade é que não sou, eu tenho todas as fraquezas que vocês, eu me rendo a um doce, esqueço fácil da dieta. Bebo um pouco, curto meus dias.
E mostro a vocês, não há nada de errado, porém eu sempre volto pro "lado fit da força". A questão é que eu não desisto de me manter saudável, gosto de treinar, gosto de comer coisas saudáveis, e pra isso eu tenho determinação.
🧡 A gente sabe o que precisa fazer, só que na maioria das vezes NÃO QUEREMOS SAIR DA ZONA DE CONFORTO. .
Meu conselho: só por hoje permaneça saudável, só por hoje procure se cuidar. 🧡✌

I get asked a lot why I do what I do...why don’t you just relax and enjoy yourself...chill out you’re on vacation...!! Well, who says I’m not relaxing, chilling out and enjoying myself!! Today I swam with my kids in the ocean and the pool, I read a book under the palm shade with my daughter while my 4 year old washed the sand off his feet a thousand times because he could turn the shower on and off all by himself 😂 and I walked hand in hand along the sandy beach with my hubby!
A year ago I made a commitment to love my body (thanks for the reminder today @curlygirlsquats
(check out her post on loving your body!)) I don’t do this as punishment for all the things I’m eating and drinking ‘off plan’ this week, I don’t do it because I hate the way my body looks, and I definitely don’t do it just so I can go crazy at the all inclusive buffet tonight 😂. I do it because my body needs it and this is how I show it love and by showing it love it makes me feel awesome in return. It also makes me more present with my kids and husband. I’m a much better mum and wife since I started taking care of myself.
I made a commitment to MYSELF for MYSELF and that’s why I do it!! Goals..... What is your reason..your ‘why’....your true desire for doing what you do?
We, in the fitness industry, are familiar with setting SMART goals with our clients:
This means sitting down and really thinking it through.
Getting to the true emotion driving the desire to change.
For example - “I’d like to lose weight and tone up” - a very common initial response.
A fine place to begin and will keep you motivated for a short period - however when the going gets tough & motivation wanes - you really need to imagine how you’re going to feel when you reach your end game; what will you look like, how happy you’ll feel...whatever this is for you....and to do this you need to get specific!
A great way to do this is to flip it around - start with where you want to be at the end of this journey & reverse engineer.....so “I’d like to fit into my favourite size 12 black dress, and I’d like to wear it on New Year’s Eve. I love this dress, I splashed out and treated myself with my first month wage packet a few years back and I can’t wait to wear it again”. See the difference?
It’s very specific - ‘favourite’ size 12 dress 😉
So let’s say that’s 6-8lbs over the next 6 weeks.
It’s measurable - we can measure her weight & take body measurements every two weeks.
It’s achievable - it’s an achievable weight loss for the timeframe (this one is important)
Its realistic - through a balance of daily workouts, healthy eating & a calorie deficit the client can absolutely achieve her goal.
Time Bound - by New Year’s Eve 😉
So there you have it guys - if you’re contemplating setting some life goals, fitness goals, strength goals, weight loss goals - get super specific and picture that end game!
