Do you enjoy learning new things or do you prefer tried and true? ———————————————— No music with this one guys just raw footage of me learning new styles from my new trainer. If you been following my stories you know I had been looking for a new gym and I’m glad I found one much closer to my home with all the amenities I want in a gym. • I personally love trying varying ways to work the same muscle groups. Switching up the routine is good way to break the monotony of lifting if you get bored easily and can also help break the plateau of muscle building. Though, I can be very uncoordinated when learning new movements 🤦🏽‍♀️which is why I sadly never pursued dancing lol. • I will add that this was a real shoulder burner. Self care is the best remedy for a heart break 💔💝(read ⬇️⬇️ on) —————————————— So you and the guy you’ve been with are now broken up. Maybe he loved you, maybe he truly didn’t... maybe it was the right person/wrong time and maybe you guys just weren’t compatible at all. Either way that still doesn’t negate from all the love time and energy you put into the relationship. So now in many ways you feel let down.. by yourself, him, or the universe as a whole. You feel extremely Sad, disappointed, and maybe a little depressed. Your world (or atleast many factors about it ) is changing and your not quite ready to accept it.. your not quite ready to accept anything. Your morning alarm goes off for you to get up and go to the gym but you’d rather hit snooze until you die. Here is where my advice comes in my queens, 🙅🏽‍♀️Don’t Hit Snooze⏰❗️ • Even though your emotional weight seems too heavy for you to have room in you to lift physical weight, this is actually the time when You need You the most. You need to go to the gym. You need to perform many acts of self love to help pick up back up and this is one of them. Sure a tub of ice cream sounds almost medicinal but once you reach the bottom of that bucket you will surely feel worse than when you started. • The goal is to not only gain your energy back (that emotional stress can zap out of you) but to gain your confidence back as well. Break ups are bad for the ego and can cause us to create self doubt but focusing on how capable and strong you really are will help to channel all the positive energy you need to get through this difficult time. Also, keeping yourself in a routine will help to restore a sense of calm and order in what feels like a chaos. • Prioritizing your health is prioritizing your happiness. Not only will you see changes in your body but you’ll see changes in your perspective on life and maybe even discover the blessing in that breakup. And when you strive to be the best version of yourself, an attracting a new someone who is enthralled by your energy and spirit is almost inevitable 💜.

Burning out the quads for #workoutwednesday ‼️ —————————————— Anybody feeling lucky 🍀. Try these on your next leg day. A movement like quad extensions can become boring not only to you but to your muscles as well so switching things up will help to keep those muscles feeling challenged to have continuous growth. • You may not feel so lucky completing these but you will def feel the burn by the end of the first set which lets you know things are about to get real fun 😅. Burning out the quads for #workoutwednesday ‼️ —————————————— At the end of my last comp I spoke with one the judges to see what they would recommend for me to do more or less of so that I may continue to excel in this world competitive fitness. She (the judge) recommended more lunges to tighten up my quads. I was already doing 100+ per leg day so now it’s bumped up to 200+ walking lunges per leg day per her advice. This is definitely a burn out but I also find that doing these at the end of my gym sessions also helps to stretch my quads out from the previous movements. As well as helping with my balance. My feet are structurally not sound so working on and maintaining my balance is another reason why I prefer walking lunges vs doing lunges in place. Right now I’m on a mini vacation from life being low key in my hometown but I will just imagine I’m on a true tropical vacation in some exotic land 😂. Trust me when I say I’m already in process of planning big vacays for 2019. As they say proper preparation prevents poor performance. This can be applied to E V E R Y T H I NG. And I mean everything. Yes, sometimes plans go unplanned and off course but if you never even map out an outline how will you even be able to have a vision for what you want the outcome to be. Complaining about what you don’t have, where you haven’t been and how you don’t look won’t solve the issue. Instead setting a plan in motion will get you one step closer to have one less complaint. And even if said plan goes off course, your original plan still has a starting point and you still have the vision for the outcome. Nothing in life is a straight line but as long as you have a map, you will never lose track of your true destination 💜. . . All animals really but however the unconditional love that dogs have for us as their companions has always been an ignma to me. So instead of trying to achieve the unachieveable, I simply decided to except myself and others for who they are at there core. This also means allowing myself to feel my emotions and to let others feel theirs. Its what makes us human right. Being happy and joyous as well as frustrated and angry. ✨Here’s to body positive thoughts and appreciation for the skin that your in. ✨ _____________________________________ A lot times we can find ourselves getting caught up in the aesthetic photos of so many athletes and fitness gurus. I too am an inspiring fitness guru but i think it is important to not only remind myself but to continue to remind others the reality of pursuing a more fit and healthy life style… as well as the realities of reaching your fitness goals. _____________________________________ This is current me 12 or so weeks post comp. As you can see if i do the appropriate breathing and posing I can make my abdominals looks much better than in my natural stance. But the reality is that in my natural stance my abdominals are soft and much less defined and you can even see a little pooch lol. Yes, I am maintaining a decent diet monday through friday as well as hitting the gym but No- I am not doing much cardio. However I am still loving the body I have before me. Why? Because I know what this body is capable of. I am Blessed to having working limbs giving me the ability to workout and move freely throughout this world. As well as the functions that go on internally. Remembering that this same body is also capable of housing and developing another human being. I have yet to but it still blows my mind just to think about it. ___________________________________ I believe as women too we give ourselves these unrealistic expectations of how our bodies should look 24/7. As if we don’t have hormones and monthly events that cause changes in our bodies daily. Fluctuations in water retention and so on. As well as forgetting that these fitness journeys are a process. No one goes from completely unfit to shredded in 30 days ( ‼️don’t believe the hype‼️). And staying shredded for long periods of time is also unrealistic. Your favorite bodybuilders don’t look stage ready 24/7 365. Theres an art to it, a practice, a process. _________________________________ Then theres the idea of how we think muscle mass should look on ourselves when trying to compare yourself to another fit person. Everyones body is shaped differently primarily thanks to genetics.(cont)⬇️
Include this in your after work workout‼️ —————————— I love this movement because it targets my two favorite muscles: glutes and quads. I’m using a small step up box but trust me it’s really getting the job done. Great addition to a lower body workout and or Glute session. I insist on using a smith machine for this so you don’t have to focus to hard on stabilization and just concentrate on the movement itself. Hitting the hamstrings in this video. Dumbbell deadlifts are great as a muscle specific concentrated movement. But be mindful, if you have lower back issues this may not be for you. Also over guessing your weight limit can cause injury to your back as well. I’m using 25lb dumbbells here. The key is to keep you back straight and shoulders square with hips back. You know your doing it right when you feel like your hamstrings pulling and not your back. Some people stress about having a work-life balance. So much so that it leaves the rest of us feeling guilty when one area weighs more heavily than the other. Word of advice‼️: never feel guilty about the needs of your life in that moment. ——————————————— Typically when I get into my homework, I really get into my homework. I’ll spend hours at my desk or where ever I choose to place mac and won’t step one foot outside until I’m satisfied with the amount of work I have completed .. which is not till it’s time for bed. Mind you my day job already consist of me spending hours in a windowless room... but today I felt like my needs were different. I needed less work and more sunshine. When you recognize your needs in the moment and fulfill them you now have entered the realm of work-life satisfaction rather than trying to chase the unachievable of a work-life balance. ——————————————— When you begin to make the right choices about where your time and energy is needed based on your values and principles we begin to live closer in alignment with our purpose. Feeling more and more satisfied with how we spent our 24hours. Give this one a try-Leek and Mushroom Omelette(RECIPE NOT PICTURED) WHAT YOU NEED: 1 tsp. coconut oil ½ cup (45g) leek, chopped (green part only) 1 tsp. dried thyme 2 cups mushrooms (150g), sliced 6 eggs WHAT YOU NEED TO DO: Heat the oil in the frying pan and fry the leeks and thyme for about 3 min, on medium heat. Meanwhile, slice the mushrooms and cook with the leeks for another 5 minutes. Season with salt and pepper. Beat the eggs and pour over the vegetables. Put the lid on the pan and leave for about 10 min. until cooked.
