#flashbackfriday to when I was show prep’ing and doing cardio 6x a week. However, I want to be clear- Cardio is the most over utilized training variable I see in the gym. - - It’s common for someone to decide to lose some weight and keep everything the same, except start a cardio regimen. This is a bad idea for those already doing resistance training and those doing little daily activity. For those resistance training, they are probably already under consuming food so adding more “wear and tear” (so to speak) will only drive their metabolism into the ground and negatively affect hormone production. If you are untrained, you’re looking at the same issues. - - The best thing for results (physical, hormonal and metabolic) is to change your diet, which is a whole topic in itself. Add basic resistance training and then until your weight loss has significantly slowed or your body fat is at least under 10%, I wouldn’t touch cardio (as long as you’re able to get activity in through walking and moving). - - The only way I’d tell someone to keep it is if they really enjoy it, then, along with resistance training and proper diet it can be mentally beneficial. - - So, whether you’re a beginner or just trying to lose weight as a fitness veteran, stop over doing it on cardio!! www.lawlessfitness.com

Anemia is defined as the condition where there is reduction of oxygen carrying capacity of the blood. (low circulating red blood cells or low hemoglobin) Normal adult levels of hemoglobin: Men: 13.5-17.5 g/dl, Women: 12-15.5 g/dl. Causes: Leading cause of anemia is iron-deficiency due to chronic bleeding, menorrhagia, malnutrition, absorption disorders, post-surgery. Other causes could be related to genetic defects like thalassemia, due to vitamin B12 & folate deficiency, liver disease, kidney disease, autoimmunity, alcoholism, poisoning & infections. Symptoms: Fatigue, constant headaches, shortness of breath, dizziness, palpitations, arrhythmias, pale skin, restless leg syndrome, anxiety, low immunity, dry & brittle hair & nails. Tips to beat Iron-deficiency anemia: 1.Eat more lean meats like poultry, fish & increase intake of healthy omega-3 rich foods like nuts & seeds. 2. Excellent vegetable sources of iron are beets, pomegranate, soy, spinach and other dark leafy vegetables like broccoli, celery, kale, etc. 3. Steam your vegetables as this increases bio-availability of iron, which helps retain its nutrition profile. 4. Supplement with Vitamin C, as Vitamin C increases absorption of iron in the gut. Alternatively, eating foods which are naturally high in ascorbic acid(along with iron) like citrus fruits, yellow & red bell peppers; will also facilitate iron absorption. 5. Take iron supplements preferably on an empty stomach. 6. Increase intake of B-vitamin rich foods like red meats, poultry, oranges, legumes, & avocados. 7. Avoid smoking. 8. If iron-deficiency is severe, you may need to be given iron intravenously or need blood transfusions to help restore hemoglobin levels.

To increase Serum Testosterone concentrations -: Serum Testosterone concentrations have been shown to increase by using these methods independently or in various combinations : * Large muscle group exercise (e.g. Deadlift, Squats🏋️, & power clean) ➡️ Heavy resistance (85% - 95% of 1 Repition Maximum) ➡️ Moderate to high volume of exercise, achieved with multiple sets or multiple exercise ➡️ Short rest intervals (30- 60seconds) 3. To Increase Growth Hormones Levels -: Growth Hormone levels have been shown to increase by using either of these methods or both in combination. ➡️ Use workouts with higher lactate concentrations & high intensity ( 10 RM, or heavy resistance) with 3 sets of each exercise ( high total work) & short 1 min. Rest periods. ➡️ Suppliment diet with carbohydrate and protein before and after workout. 4. To Optimize Response of Adrenal Hormones ➡️ Use high volume, Large muscle groups,& short rest periods, but vary the training protocol and the rest periods length & volume to allow the Adrenal gland to engage in recovery process & to prevent chronic catabolic responses of #Cartisol . I get over 50 DMs every single day and I try to answer most of them, but I can’t always do that! So I am going to release one video each week (well, as frequently as I can) answering one of the most common questions that pop up in my inbox! This weeks question is: SHOULD I BE EATING EVERY 2 HOURS TO LOSE WEIGHT? ANSWER 👉🏼Eating every 2 hours is great if it works for you! But, the truth is that we are all different and the same formula will not work for all of us. Here are a few tips that will help - 1️⃣Get in tune with your body’s signals. Eat when you are hungry. Stop when you are full.This will change depending on the weather, the time of the month (for women) and your level of physical activity. 2️⃣The time between meals will also vary depending on your age, level of physical activity, health history… For some people, eating smaller meals every 2-3 hours works, while for some others, eating every 4-5 hours works better! Focus more of eating a well balanced meal that you feel really satiated after eating. 3️⃣I do recommend maintaining a 12-13 hour fasting window between your last meal of the day and your first meal the next day. This helps your body to naturally detox, by flushing out dead cells and regenerating new ones. Hope this was helpful! I feel bad for people that are just starting on their fitness journey today, because it’s impossible to know who to listen to and what advice you should take. I recently came across Dr. Oz’s 7 Day Calorie Confusion diet. Just take that in for a second. It’s exactly what it sounds like… in 7 days, you can “confuse” your metabolism and make it work faster. Guys, you can’t confuse your metabolism, even if a so-called doctor tells you that you can. This is the same guy that also promotes countless fat burning drinks and crazy anti-aging supplements because he MAKES MONEY when you buy the products. Similarly, a ton of fitness professionals out there will promote products simply because they are paid to do so. - I’m sure Dr Oz is very well-educated, but he is only interested in making money, so he will put out any information and promote any products that earn him a buck. To my point, just because he is a doctor, it doesn’t mean you should listen to him. This all circles back to fitness. There are probably millions of trainers and fit pros throwing out advice through social media, so how do you know who to trust? Just because Joe Tweedledee and Jane Tweedledum each have a NASM certification, it doesn’t mean they’re good trainers. It means they took an exam and passed. I passed physics in high school, it doesn’t make me a qualified physicist. I couldn’t even spell it until I looked it up. - If you’re scrolling through Instagram and wondering who you should listen to with all this conflicting advice, take your time and get to know someone. Go through their profile and posts and see what they’re all about. Do they truly care about helping with no hidden agenda? Do their values align with yours? Trust me, you’ll know when you come across someone trustworthy and knowledgeable. Cheer us on at this 24hr event: starting tomorrow; Friday August 17 at 6am - Saturday August 18th 6am, at the Costello Sports Complex right here in Gorham Maine (USM Field House). Here we are with our team leaders Yonatan Belik and Mike Reid who organized this event with the Seeds of Peace organization. Our team is comprised of 25 diverse athletes from over 10 different countries around the world. Together we are attempting to break the current record for the “Greatest Distance on a Kick-Scooter in 24 Hours (Team)” Over the course of 24 hours we will be relaying between our team of 20. Each of us scootering for an up to an hour at a time until we reach our record breaking goal of 348miles and then some! #4 The #1 reason on why I got into health & fitness! ...my dad I sometimes share this story when it works into a conversation My dad passed away from a heart attack suddenly July 20, 2003 My heart was broken It is the hardest feeling to explain Being so young and having so much more memories to create with your dad...I realized I won't get to experience that 💔 My dad is my hero I decided I wanted to do something in fitness from when I was 17. I did my co-op placement at the YMCA and without a doubt, progressed from there I'm crying as I type this. I still remember that day as if it just happened. (Bawling now thinking more in depth about it...but I need this)... ...heart pounding My dad and I were tight like this 🤞 He was my anchor Always stood up for me He loved his family and would do anything for them On a late Saturday evening, July 19th My dad, uncle and I were downstairs in our basement watching a boxing match *I grew up watching boxing with my dad...he had a strong passion for it and I just enjoyed him enjoy watching it* My dad needed some help figuring out something with the remote (that reminds me of how I was always handy that way...and I still am...love figuring things out...putting furniture together etc) After I finished figuring out the remote situation...my dad put such a huge smile on his face and acknowledged how amazing I was that I was able to figure it out! He said "that's my girl!" And hugged me... I ran upstairs to get something...(I can't remember at this point).. and as I was walking towards our front entrance washroom, I heard a snoring sound... I thought ..well that's odd...I was just downstairs, how is dad sleeping? So I asked my mom if she hears it... I go down stairs and .... 😢 I see my dad on the floor, with my uncle behind him seated asking for help... as soon as I saw that, I panicked and called for help... That hug was the last hug I got from him That smile was the last smile I got from him I miss him so much... He is my inspiration He is the reason I do what I do I know health and fitness is my calling God has an amazing plan for me I can't see it clearly yet, but I am walking in faith
