Let’s talk about the gait cycle (walking, running, etc.) 🏃🏻‍♂️ — As my good friend and fascia expert @inneralignmentaz explained beautifully in one of his more recent posts, the body is an interconnected, intertwined, single functional unit 💯 — @inneralignmentaz and myself share similar views on movement, how the body operates, and how training is done currently in the industry versus how it should be done, I wanted to build off of his content and provide some value to my audience 🙏🏼 — If we cannot walk, run, etc., then how do we expect to push, pull, squat, lunge, hinge, or rotate correctly? — How can we consider ourselves “functional” if we can’t even walk, when that’s the most utilized movement that we use on an every day basis? — Gait should be the first to be assessed when working with a new client. Hands down. Unfortunately, it is often overlooked, if an assessment is even done that is 🤔 — In the fitness industry, the word “functional” is thrown around quite loosely. Being functional is truly being able to do whatever it is you wish to do, without limitations and without restrictions, while also being able to use your body as a single synergistic machine ⚙️ — The body is not broken into segments. We are not split at the chest, shoulders, arms, or legs. So why are we training that way? 🤔 — Let’s be honest, most training is done for aesthetics. I get it. I respect it! Everyone wants to look good, sure. Hell, I was a heavyweight bodybuilder at one point in time. I get it! — But like the old saying goes, LOOKS ONLY GET YOU SO FAR — #TruthBomb — If you’re looking for sustainable, long-term results, you need to get out from being stuck in the sagittal plane (bench, squat, deadlift, biceps curls, etc.) and you need to move in multi-planar dimensions (3D) — To be clear, I’m not saying that you need to completely stop what you’re doing. Do what makes you happy! Just do it with a healthy balance so you don’t find yourself constantly suffering in pain down the road in 20 years 💯 — Share this post on your story if you found this valueable! What most people in the health & wellness business are lacking is an auto responder sequence This is an automated email sequence that usually runs every day for 5-10 days This is what I write for numerous fit pros using ClickFunnels or simply just selling their courses This is a salesman who works for you 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, 365 days per year Typically, you start with a free "lead magnet" then the sequence is triggered The sequence should be written in a very specific way that shows the reader WHAT to do, but not HOW to do it That's the beauty of copywriting (what I do) For example... I've written an email for a female fit pro that targets women and mainly focuses on helping them sculpt their glutes I spoke about which exercises were the most useful and the fact that lifting heavy can be very beneficial I also mentioned varying the rep schemes But, notice, I didn't mention HOW they program the reps or HOW they perform the exercises properly The HOW is revealed in the product, which they must purchase to find out That's the key that makes them want to buy your products Make sense? When it's going to be a heavy weight day like yesterday I make sure to warm up and also cool down. The best part about this routine is that you can do it through out your day. This is a great mobility routine. The deep squat is actually part of my pelvic floor rehab routine. . . Moms do a lot of repetitive movements, doing some kind of mobility routine throughout your day will help reduce tightness and make your days with your little ones more fun. . . I hit a new post baby personal best yesterday, swipe rest to see how it went down. Before I found out I was pregnant with Joshua I was in a strength phase in my training but had to scale it back because I didn't feel comfortable doing really heavy weights anymore. I didn't think I will progress this fast in my training but the progress has been incredible. . . Working out while pregnant can seem slow and if you are someone who loves to see progress it can seem pointless but don't give up. Keep doing what you can do and don't be scared to push yourself on days when you have the energy. Do what you can even if it's just going for a walk every day. Being active while pregnant is something that I am so grateful to God for being able to do because post baby I continue to see the benefits. . . It may seem counterintuitive to exercise when you’re stressed, but did you know exercise releases endorphins and a host of other feel-good hormones to help alleviate stress and uplift your spirit? . . The biggest misconception about purposeful physical activity A.K.A Exercise, is that it has to be a painfully unpleasant experience for it to count.. No pain; No gain..right? . . But nah! There are very many restorative exercises that offer relaxation and physical fitness benefits! It’s true that your physical activity needs change according to your body composition, health or performance goals, but this doesn’t mean that every work out has to be heart pumping. . . In fact, athletes train 80% of the time in Zone 3. (There’s Zone 1 and 2.. these are heart training zones.. a cardiorespiratory fitness lingo I don’t intend to bore you with!) What this means is that, everyday at the gym is not “murder fat” day. . . Vigorous workouts hit the CNS ( central nervous system) HARD! A good training program should have active recovery days and days when mind-body exercises take center stage. . . This way, you lose more weight, recover better, stave off cravings while being in the right state of mind to make make purposeful physical activity an integral part of your lifestyle. . . When it comes to health and wellness, slow and steady ALWAYS WINS!
