My husband got me a Fitbit for Christmas because he knows I’ve been wanting one for a long time now! We made ourselves and each other a promise that we would get healthy this year and this is a big first step! I’ve been wearing it except when I have to charge it and when I need to shower since I got it and even accessorize it at work! It’s really helping me be conscious of how much I’m walking and the app even allows me to track my food and water! And I can wear it in the pool at the gym to track that too! I had to have a lil conversation with the legs tonight, since they were not quite sure about this whole Friday-night-after-a-hard-week-of-training workout deal~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ But it was good to get a solid effort in at about the same time of day as my race next Friday night, and although my pacing wasn’t quite even (started too fast, NEVER done that before 😂), my recovery between repeats and at the end felt good. There is nothing like an ice cold beer on a 40+ degree day such as yesterday ☺️🍻 - I had an amazing “cheat meal” (pork belly burger and chips) with @b0nestorm and @raven_6_6_6 at @abbeyroadstkilda and have no regrets! - The one thing that’s going to be different this time around is that I’m absolutely not going to let myself feel guilty for any treats I have along the way. I eat well 80% of the time and that’s good enough for me! - I don’t want to get super obsessed and restrictive again, because my mental health is just as important as my physical health. It may take a little longer but I’ll sure be happier this time around and that’s the key to consistency and motivation 🔑

Leg Day Warm Up Video (Part 1) Always warm up before I start doing any workout. You don’t want to go straight to your workout (specially if you are doing heavy lifting) without warming up first. Warming up will get your blood flowing and oxygen to your musles to get them ready for the workout! Usually I do 5-10 minutes of different exercises. If I’m working lower body, I’ll do leg-focus warm up exercises or If I’m working on my abs or core that day I’ll do burpees for example. I’ll then stretch & then go into the routine. Then stretch again after I’m done. (Dont forget to stretch ☝️😉) Here I did: 🔹High knees step ups🔹Side Lunges 🔹Jump Lunges🔹Squat Jumps🔹

For example, the rectus femoris is only about 40 % slow, while the vastus lateralis is about 50 % slow. Still, further scientists have found that the vastus medialis ranges from 40 to 60 % fast. What this tells us is that the quads should be trained with heavy (4-8 reps; 2-5 minutes rest), moderate (8-12 reps; 90 seconds rest), light (12+ reps; 30-60 seconds rest), and even in super and giant set fashion (2-4 exercises for the quads with no rest between exercises). The three vastus muscles originate (begin/attach) to the upper part of the femur or thigh bone and cross the knee joint. This means their main job is to extend the knee as occurs in leg extensions and squats. 🔻The Rectus femoris crosses the hip joint and attaches to the front of the hip (inferior iliac spine) and also crosses the knee joint. This means they have two functions: (1) to extend the knee and (2) to lift your knee up towards your body (hip flexion).
