Came across this old photo the other day and decided I had to post my own #transformationtuesday Was a bit shocked seeing these two photos side by side. On the left I was 56kg after lifting for about one year and on the right I am 70kg. - The journey over the years to get here has been a hard one. As much as I love skateboarding it has given me a decent amount of injuries 😞. I've rolled/sprained my ankle 5 times, tore a ligament in my ankle at the start of this year and have been dealing with a torn wrist cartilage for the past year and a half. (Just got surgery to fix it recently) - All of these things combined have stopped my progress in the gym quite a lot which is depressing but I still think what I've done with my body is pretty decent considering the circumstances. - Also, please ignore my hair 😂😂

‼️Why you should be doing Front Squats‼️⁣ ⁣ Had to show a video of me curling so I could lure you gym bros in lol jk...kinda⁣ ⁣ Anyway, Front Squats are very very crucial to your muscular development and here’s why:⁣ ⁣ 1️⃣ Stronger Core. Typically a lot of us, myself included, get our back super strong and have our abdominals take the backseat in comparison of strength. Front squatting helps alleviate that. When having the weight anteriorly loaded as opposed to posteriorly loaded (like a back squat would be) we are forced to keep our torso upright. In doing so, strengthens our core. Not to say back Squats don’t work your core, but Front Squats bring core activation and strength to a whole other level💯⁣ ⁣ 2️⃣ Highlights Muscle Imbalances. Doing a front squat is the quickest way to see where your muscular development is lacking. Typically the two areas of weakness (excluding poor mobility) are your core, and having a weak upper back; lacking thoracic extension. If you’re wondering what being weak in these areas look like here’s an example: If you perform a front squat and instantly dump the bar, you’re suffering from these imbalances, and it might be time to do some damage control👍⁣ ⁣ 3️⃣ Better Mobility. If you can already perform a front squat then great news, because you have excellent mobility. However a lot of other people tend to hate Front Squats for the lack of their mobility (specifically in their wrists, upper back, and shoulders). This does coincide with the last point, however mobility is always something that should be given its own topic. Too many people restistance train and neglect to stretch and end up turning into a motionless meatball. So to combat that, besides stretching (duh), we can perform high mobility exercises, and the front squat is a great one!⁣ ⁣ I actually do not perform back squats anymore. Back squats are a great exercise but they are not essential, unless of course you’re a powerlifter (then you’d better be getting used to those bad boys lol). Though seeing how the majority of us are fitness enthusiasts, bodybuilding competitors, or athletes, the front squat is vastly superior to the back squat IMO, especially in longevity💯
