i really really adore garden roses. they’re ruffley, ephemeral and are like scoops of heavily scented sorbetto. they won’t last too much longer in this heatwave we’ve been having but surely worth every scent.
geddit? scent and cents?!
Some shop news just in! The Starter Set is now called the Signature Bundle, and I’m about to start making it in a second colorway. What would be your dream color combination for this bunch of flowers? I have one in mind, but I’m curious what colors make your heart sing? (By the way, the “vase” is an old mining crucible my in-laws found at an antiques shop in the mountains. I love it, but I’d be a little scared to put water and real flowers in it. I’m imagining it’s loaded with heavy metal residue. 😬)
It's winter but it might as well be spring. The weather outside is so soft. Roses and narcissus are blooming🌱... Wonder if it will still snow this year! ⛄
a challenge i gave myself this year is to push myself out of my comfort zone - unusual colour schemes, flower types and basically just get myself out there.
i’m thankful for couples like ben and cheryl that put their full faith in me.
2019, you’re starting off with a bang!
Happy Sunday everyone 🌿I just love the arrival of catkins with their promise that Spring will come again.
cheryl’s bouquet reminded me of an english summer garden; fragrant with garden roses and painted with a watercolour brush. i couldn’t help but feel inspired to recreate this on a canvas!
So much has changed since I launched this business back in January of last year, and I have some exciting plans for The Hiraeth Collection in 2019. It all feels like it’s happening so fast. I blinked and 2018 is over. I am already thinking about next fall and the shows I want to do. Right now I’m making some changes to the online store, expanding into other products while I continue to curate my brand and create a unique shopping experience. Meanwhile, I’m still trying to figure out some stuff, like blogging, SEO, marketing etc. It’s all a bit overwhelming, but I do love the work. All of it! I love making home goods, I love photography, the planning, the styling, the editing, the graphic design, email marketing, everything. .
Many thanks to everyone who is following along with me!

Anyone else going through major life shifts right now?
My chosen word for this year was “growth,” but at the time that I chose it, I was really only thinking about it from a business standpoint. However, God had other plans for me (for which I’m thankful). It’s uncomfortable for sure, but I know it’s for the good.
Still sending out “Happy New Year” wishes. ❤️
Birthday gift from my lovely sister. A vintage Venetian papier-mâché box with this amazing design on the lid 🖤
other than gifting the personal florals, i had the chance to be best man at this amazing wedding. there’s nothing like the logistics of wedding to that stops you from nit-picking at how the bouquet looks! (still did though haha!)
it was made easier by working with the bestest team coordinated by @holymoly.sg
, thanks for being such a star!
May your week ahead of you have a few unexpected blessings.
I hope it includes some laughing and possibly a few tears,
Enough imperfection for you to notice and move on,
Glimpses of sunshine in the midst of a rainy gray day,
Time for a walk to allow you to see the season changing in places you don’t normally notice,
And, an opportunity for you to make a day better for a friend or stranger.
Blessings on the week ahead of you.🌿
Well, hello! Happy new year! It’s been a while, but if you’ve seen my stories you may know that (1) I recently bought these stock flowers and (2) before that, I was in Puerto Rico. I’ve added a few more Puerto Rico photos in my stories today. Despite the devastation of 2017’s hurricane Maria, the island is a wonderful place to visit and most welcoming of tourists like me. Now I’m ready for a leisurely morning of tea and catching up around here.
i didn’t manage to go to Naoshima Island with these two but i wanted to capture to cool concrete of Tadao Ando’s Chichu Museum in her bouquet. combining the architectural elements of silver pussy willow and the concentric tillandsia; and of course finished off with flowing silk ribbons by @the_coterie_
i thought it would be suitable to share this bouquet as the first post of 2019 because it means so much to me. late last year, i had the honour of doing the wedding flowers for my best friend back home in singapore. and i got to use the best of australia’s natives, bringing the brief of concrete and architecture to life.
was i stressed?! ya betcha!
In search of colour on these grey winter days ❤️ Are you taking it slow on this first week of the year or diving straight in with new intentions and goals?
My amaryllis is blooming. I got a late start planting the bulb, but it really didn’t take long to grow. I love how the red pops against the dark background. Haven’t had much time to take pictures lately. I’d like to get outside and shoot some, but by the time I get done walking the dogs, there are other chores to be done. I’m planning on getting my tree down this weekend, so That will mean I will be organizing and getting Christmas decor in storage. Maybe next week there will be some spare time. Hope you all have a great Thursday! #moodynature #flowerslovethedark #flowersonblack #darkandmoody #stilllifephotography
’Excessively diverted’ is one of my favourite phrases from the most wonderful Jane Austen (I have MANY 😆). How beautifully rich the language was in her time (don’t get me started on more gems, I’d be here all day).
Whilst lounging on the sofa quaffing English sparkling wine, eating chocolates and watching Pride & Prejudice for the gazillonth time yesterday (compulsory New Years Day activities right? for me anyway🤷♀️) I had a sudden urge to create a Jane Austen inspired flowery hashtag and so #excessivelydivertedbyflowers
Please tag it freely in all your gorgeous images and follow @excessivelydivertedbyflowers
(currently blank but you can change that👍) I’ll select some of my favourites to feature 👍🤣. Can’t wait to share your beauty xxx
The candle is burning down on the last day of the year. Kim Klassen has a beautiful practice she has recommended for the end of the year. Light a candle. Say a prayer or send a blessing for someone in need. Give thanks. @kimklassen #kimklassen_lightacandle
The last day of the year ❤️ and time to look forward to 2019. I’m not one for resolutions or setting intentions as I never seem to stick to the list.. Thank you you for staying with me on my floral journey this past year and inspiring me with all the beauty you share everyday and your generous comments and support Here’s to an inspiring and creative 2019 #whpresolutions2019
lastly, of all the projects i’ve done this year, my favourites were your weddings. when my flowers become intertwined in such intimate moments, i can not help but have a soft spot for them. i’m so blessed to be part of your special day and you make this so-called ‘job’ feel like a dream. with the people who surround me and support me, thank you for being there this year because you’ll definitely get a cry for help in 2019, it’s gonna be a big one.
ps: and props to amazing photographers that i’ve met this year who create absolute magic, tap to find the tagged geniuses!
