Not gonna lie, these two where thisclose to making me cry today and it is all my fault. 😢 I had a great habit going of using them up to 2xs a day, after my workout and before bed. I got away from that over the past couple weeks (don’t ask, I really don’t have an answer) and it reared it’s ugly head on me today. I discovered how tight my quads truly were during my warm up and that didn’t help with squats and step ups...at all. Had I kept up with rolling before bed, I know I wouldn’t have felt tight or pain during any part of my workout and roll out. 😬 It’s critical to pay attention and listen to your body. I will admit to backing off of my workouts over the past couple weeks in an attempt to rest and recharge my body but that also meant that I backed off of something vital that would’ve helped me fully recover. 🤦‍♀️ Cooling down (stretching, foam rolling, etc.), seems to be the most ignored facet of a well rounded fitness plan. We live such busy lives that we plan the warm up and workout part (lift things up, put things down), but we don’t always plan for the cool down. It’s VITAL to take those few minutes to bring your body back ‘down’ from the ‘high’ of the workout. The knee is a joint that requires both stability and mobility. • The knee is supported by many ligaments to stabilize it, but it is surrounded by many big muscles to aid it. These muscles; quadriceps, hamstrings, and calves to name a few; if tense will place stress upon the knee. Furthermore, enveloping the muscles are fascia. Fascia is tissue that links the entire body together. Presented is the anterior superficial line and the posterior superficial line. If tense will tighten its entire chain and in turn, the muscles underneath them. • Following are some stretches to release the fascia and the tightened muscles around the knee, which aids in alleviating knee pain. • The FOAM ROLLER a great tool to use which aids in releasing the fascial around an area. Listed are areas to roll to aid in releasing the fascia around the knee. Roll for 30 to 60 seconds per area. • HAMSTRING STRETCH WITH BAND: loop a band around the heel and lift the leg in the direction of the head. Hold the stretch for 30 to 60 seconds per side. • CROSSBODY STRETCH: Loop the band around the ball of the foot, bring the leg across the body to the opposite side. Ensure the shoulder blades remain on the ground. Hold for 30 to 60 seconds per side. • HIP FLEXOR STRETCH: Place the back foot against a wall and the front foot in a 90° position. DRIVE the entire body forward putting weight on your front foot and DO NOT arch the back. Hold for 30 to 60 seconds per side. This will stretch the quadriceps and hip flexors simultaneously. • These stretches will aid in releasing the muscles and fascia around the knee. LACROSSE BALL SERIES〰️✨ Hello and Happy Monday to all! Here is a nice lacrosse ball video to start of your week and release those tight feet! Do you sit? Do you stand? Do you walk? Do you use your feet on a daily basis? This is for you! ☺️🤓 〰️ As with all rolling; foam roller, lacrosse ball or otherwise, find a sore spot, put your weight on it, breathe deeply, relax. Try to get that spot to release and the tissue to break up a bit. I recommend anywhere from 30-60secs on the spot. For your feet go along the outer and inner arches and on pads of foot. When you have released enough, stand on the foot, assess the difference between the rolled and unrolled muscles. Rinse, repeat on the other side. Literally my designated gym selfie spot 😬 Had a bomb ass chest day, i used to HATE training any upper body bc I believed it would make me look “bulky” or “manly” but girls you can not physically get that way from just lifting. There’s so much more to it than that. 🔥IMPROVE YOUR DRIBBLING🔥 . 🗣This is an fantastic drill working on tight space dribbling and turning with both parts of the feet. This drill also works on balancing while changing direction and overall body control. Love this drill!! . 📝How To: . 1️⃣ First, grab 4 cones or markers and set them up in a T shape. You can space the cones out as close or as far as you want. 2️⃣ Start on one side of the furthest cone back and dribble to the cone straight ahead. 3️⃣ Turn using the inside of your foot and dribble to the inside of the cone you’re facing. 4️⃣ Now you are using the outside of your foot to turn around that cone. Once you turn out of that cone, dribble all the way to the furthest cone and turn with the outside of the foot again. 5️⃣ After the turn, dribble to the middle cone and turn with the inside of your foot and dribble to the furthest back cone. 6️⃣ Stop the ball at the last cone and then repeat for both feet! . 💪 I did 10 reps for each foot and rested 5-10 seconds between each rep. Don’t take this too fast and lose control of the ball. Foam rolling is an important aspect in your training warm up and overall recovery. An often forgotten, yet commonly overused muscle, is the tricep. Yes, you can use the foam roller on the tricep!! Cue all boxers, tennis players, cyclists, gymnasts, lifters, chefs, excessive computer users (the list goes on) 🥊 🎾 🚴‍♀️ 🤸‍♂️ 🏋🏻‍♀️ 👩‍🍳 💻 💪 (steps listed below) . . 1. Lie on your side with the arm extended in an overhead-like position. Palm facing down. 1. FR to be placed under the backside of the arm 2. Begin moving by rotating your palm down to up, following though with the arm rotating in the same direction, thus rolling the back of the arm (tricep) front to back across the surface of the FR. 3. Pause at end range, and if tolerated bend the elbow to reach behind the head, pause, straighten the arm and return to starting position. 4. Utilize breath work, make sure you can breath through the movement and at each end range position. 5. Try 8-10 reps on each section. Work to tolerance. 6.
